I am still toying with doing one up in 44Mag.

the 44Mag has a very similar rim diameter to the 303 so no bolt or ejector modifications need to be done.

I have a barrel blank that I was originally thinking would work on a commercial 1905 Ross E but the breach threads are a nightmare (3TPI left hand buttress) but if I use the worn barrel stub as an adaptor similar to what it looks like was done for your enfield that will open up some more possibilities for me. But then I will need to deal with a Ross bolt face and ejector.

A barrel blank would been better, then could get the barrel set back more.

something that I was thinking of that may help. Are you familiar with how some Enfield CNo7 had a mag with a loading ramp that helped direct the bullet into the breach? I was thinking that perhaps a little ramp with a spring could be incorporated in front of the mag block that would help direct the bullet into the breach but would be pushed back down by the bolt.

I know what you mean. I believe I passed along something in that lines. I think the solution was to attach something to the underside of the scope mount, filling in the void.
 
I purchased a Lee with a 45 acp kit.

Anyone running a OEM Lee rear sight care to measure the height of their front sight? Mine doesn't have one mounted and like to get one installed.
 
Depends on numerous factors like barrel length & contour that came with the kit. The kit I got from Special Interest Arms came with a 1" dia, 14" straight taper tube that I profiled to fit the front sight mount base from an old S&L target rifle and M1 NM Garand sight. Ye will have to use a straight edge tool & level to determine the height for the front sight to get it on the same plane as the rear before wasting bucks on stuff that might not work fer ye.

Lots of fiddly things to consider on builds like these.

Nice gun. That is true. I don't think the Rhineland is more than .7 inch dia barrel. It was told has a threaded muzzle.

My new one is in Montreal ATM.
 
Glad I stumbled on this. I completely forgot I bought one of these kits years ago, its somewhere, I guess I better start looking for it. Lol
 
Honestly cannot wait to get mine. The 9mm Lee I gave up on it, as couldnt get it to feed well and heavy modded the receiver trying. Been sitting 2 years waiting on another receiver, as plan to just make it a single shot. But the 45 is built off a LB no7 receiver. It might be the newer threaded barrel.

It came with a No5 FH to be installed. But if it was threaded, trying to find a brake that I could get a front sight installed.

I have a Bad Ace No4 mount here that may use for it.

Thanks, I will look there. I would love a No.4 in .44mag and I'm okay with doing the conversion work myself, but I need a barrel. Preferably a barrel that is already profiled and cut to fit the Enfield receiver, but even just a blank would be a start.

It can be done. Delisle built a 9mm test gun in the 1940's. The problem back then was that 9mm subsonic did not exist, which is a problem for a gun that is supposed to be extremely quiet.

I bet 44 mag would work quite well in an enfield action.

I didn't want a Delisle clone. Just a bolt action in a pistol cal.

Well I know of 1 of 2 9mm Lee's in Canada. Mine and the guy that inspired Mine. I could never get the mag angle right, then we decided to go with a AR style ejector. But being No4 bolt heads are short. We didn't get the rebound and ended up just crushing springs. With rounds still stuck on the bolt head.

It was a brass destroyer. After a few rounds there be brass shavings in.

Without modding it have the barrel setback, the sleeve to prevent the rounds from flipping 9mm Lee is hit or miss. Also ain't easy as say using the mag adapter, and putting on a 9mm barrel.

I think so, too. Case heads are close in diameter (44mag is 0.026" smaller), the OAL is long enough I think it would greatly reduce the feeding problems that 9mm and 45ACP have, I can use a proven Desert Eagle magazine and full house 44mag would be a serious thumper with a 16" barrel.

I thought about one in 357 mag, to solve alot of the issues. The main issues is the round wants to flick out of the mag and because it's a long distance to the chamber it tends to jam. Why the Delisle had the sleeve above.

If you make your own mag well adapter you can move the mag in more. I made mine out of some sheet metal.
