nope, there is quite a few commercial ammo but they are not cheap about $15 a box.
Thanks Curtton...but $15 is cheaper than most .303, .30-06, 8mm Mauser and 7.62x54r I can find. Good to know it is commercial. Thanks

OK . So now I have one coming from SIR . Thing that piss's me off is go to SIR site . Find the SKS add . Nothing said about not in stock yet , actually worded like they are ready to ship . order on line no problem looks like they will ship next business day (transfer not withstanding) So now you think O boy My SKS is going to be here in a few days , Now I'm waiting for the inevitable e-mail from SIR thanking me for my order & by the way we don't actually have any yet & we don't know exactly when we will have them but we have your order & payment info & will bill you & send one some day !

I have a few Chi-Com type 56’s that are in excellent condition and all milled. I haven’t shot them yet, but now I’ll be able to so a side-by-side comparison of them with the Russian ones.
Thanks for the heads up!![]()
ya welcome . i like to point out that most russian SKS are refubished and part of the refurb process instead of re-blueing , they put black paint over the metal so its gonna be very hard to do a complete side by side comparison. you may be able to do a few parts like carrier , bolt and bayo if its not covered , russian laminated wood is great.
I do hope the Russian rifles have better wood though. I had to toss the stocks my Type 56's came with and replace them with the Chinese red fiberglass stocks.
Yeah, the one I had came with a laminated stock that someone had painted a camouflage pattern on.
I am somewhat leery of the Russian SKS's since I already knew they probably saw service and were possibly refurbished.

Also, those of you new to Russian SKS's, do not let the word "REFURB" scare you. From my research and experience with my own refurb Russian, rearsenaled Russian SKS's are top notch quality.
I copyed and pasted the directions and went to SIR,s site ..typed in the search box sks.. and then ..russian .. then surplus.. then rifle.. then .... and it goes on..Still cant find them. even looked under new products.. Where r they??
