Discussion thread - 2024 - 100 yard .22LR challenge

Thanks, barthammer.

As a point of interest, it is more challenging to get ten ten-shot groups shot consecutively that are all under 1" than it is to get three groups on the same page that average in the low .700's.

I've shot a lot of targets with three groups averaging in the low .700's but I don't think I've ever had ten groups in a row that are all under 1". I've had nine out of ten and a some eight out of ten -- but never ten out of ten, even on the calmest days imaginable. That suggests something about ammo consistency within a lot.

That’s very impressive !!!!! It will be hard to replicate again. Hopefully you can aquire much more of that lot number. Fantastic shooting. The Dark side is good

So, I finally got out to see if I could do anything worthwhile at 100M Imagine my delight to shoot the smallest 10 shot group I have ever shot at 100M. Rifle is a M37 with a Krieger barrel and a Kenyon trigger in a custom stock that I do not know where it originated. On top is a Weaver 36X target scope with a 1/8 moa dot. Ammunition is ELEY Match EPS. The first target was shot in relatively calm conditions, the second was in some wind that showed up, particularly on the last target. Potential is there. The driver needs more practice in reading conditions. :)
Nice shooting, Eagleye. To make the entry complete, please add the group and average sizes to the text.

I normally shoot the Vudoo off bipod and rear bag ... however I was interested in comparing some different ammo and thought the 1 pc. rest would provide a stable platform.

100 meters, 20C with a very light variable breeze.

SK LRM - .788 (what I normally use)
Eley Team, labeled 1051 fps - .572
Eley Match, labeled @1059 fps - .998
Eley Match, labeled 1061 fps - .884

average group size of the 4 is .8105
Now I got to find some more of that Eley Team!

When I ordered a case of TEAM the velocities at the time were 1069, 1073, 1078, 1083 and 1085.
None has be throughly tested as it was bought for another project and practice.

Good shooting Derreck. There is a 100-10X there.

I just posted a couple more targets in the other thread shot with my Oryx Supermatch; this time, because of the rapidly advancing cataract in my right eye, it was either shoot left handed or quit. I was quite happy with the results shooting weak eye and left handed on the trigger. Much less of a handicap that I had thought. In pistol I shoot right handed, but with the left eye and do OK with that as well.

A fun exercise, now to tighten up the groups. LOL.

A sighting in night with The "New To Me" 40XB.
Using three different lots of TEAM and one of TENEX after some five shot groups at 50 yards.

I’m assuming this new to you rifle ,might have come from an Ocular Superior member on here!! Either way it’s nice when something new surpasses one’s expectations. Looks like you’ve got a real winner there. Congrats

Picked up a Zephyr II full stock.

I fed it some of my good tenex lot. Didn't have enough time for a full challenge attempt that day but with these promising initial results from the first 30 or so rounds out of the rifle I think there's a lot more potential to squeeze out

That looks promising.
I've got my hands on a new to me rifle, so will be working on a submission to both, the 50 and 100yd threads soon :)
