Sterling Arms International R18 Mk3 Part 1 Review - Specifications and Initial Impressions

So here is my two cents as an adult. If you don't like the company that's bringing in the rifle .. don't buy it. Let your money do your talking, not your mouth (or fingers in the case of the interwebs). Feel free to buy a Kodiak product (we all know the hate directed at them en masse), or the Crypto (again, crusader haters abound).
As someone who just wants an AR180 platform to just frigging work with out any weird idiocincicies, I have great hope that this will be the "one". I was in the gen 1.1 wk180c purchasers and I've had very few issues with mine, but it still has some.
I could give two twisted rat f@*ks about who's bringing it in if it works and is reliable and of good quality. If it checks all the boxes, It will be purchased by me regardless.

oh man c'mon guys, can't we let go of grudges for once? i get it, people got burned in the past, but as a community we're already small as it is, shouldn't we be supporting each other as whole? TSE shutting down is a sad story for anyone in the firearms community. as new as I am, it's sad seeing the state of things go.

Why can't we take things step by step, piece by piece? and not do blanket judgements especially ones rooted in grudges.

SAI is owned by the same owner as TSE sure. And some people have a problem with that person sure. You're all valid enough to feel that way. But SAI as a company is more than just it's owner or ties to it.

If that was the case we should all stop driving german cars especially VW.
We should all stop getting mitsubishi products etc. etc.

Even then a product can be more that the reputation of the brand it's from. What now things exist in a static vaccum and can't ever change?
If that's the case then throw everything that you own from brands that don't have impeccable history. Oh wait you'll have nothing.

You know what this reminds me of? The degenerate cancel culture that has pervaded our society today. Let's not be like that please.

This is about a rifle, a product. Let's wait and see, and judge it by it's own merits. Create your own threads if it isn't related to this one, which is supposedly the Part 1, initial impression of the SAI R18 Mk3.

keep on with that tinfoil hat my man, as if i'm not an individual with my own life and thoughts

my only connection is that i got my license 1.5 years ago and am a TSE member for 1 year now. (disclaimer i have been to CSC and SSIR, only shot indoor and looking forward to getting an outdoor membership) Yeah i am a newcomer. which gives me fresh perspectives and won't have the same wounds and grudges as you do.

never met JR nor anyone here in this forum. I am an introvert. Who ended up loving firearms as much as anybody here.

The only reason i made this account was so i could watch the threads of the new announcements from TACCOM 2024. As I have been looking for a "black rifle" to buy and wanted to keep up to date since the reddit ones didn't have the same coverage as the threads here do.

Take that as you will and hope you have a good day.

I just want some more reliable semi autos to add to the collection. If this R18 Mk3 runs good and has additional uppers available I'll be down. I really couldn't give a hot turd about all this "who made it" and "JR Cox touched my cox" nonsense.

I want what I want, I don't care how many people got scammed, lied to, stolen from for me to get it.

That sums up some people's views on things.

Many morally bankrupt people around lately.
Welcome to the modern world. There is no product on the market not tinged by some weird morally ambiguous higher ups.

“There is no such thing as ethical consumption”

Does your skin also crawl at people buying Nike products, eating chick fil a, or Amazon products?

People (myself included) are interested in seeing a functional new addition to our market.

Go be a Karen elsewhere

Isn’t this the American way?

Looks like an interesting rifle compared to other market offerings. Hopefully shoots as well as it looks.

This man caused me the loss of a $4000 rifle.
Your analogy is apples and dogs, his actions have affected me in my wallet, those other companies have to personally harmed my finances.

I hope it's a dog and fails miserably and all connected to it lose their investment as a lesson to choose your business partners better.

Never had the opportunity to examine the inner workings of one of these rifles. Were you able to tell that it had been converted prior to the SFSS getting involved?

Womp womp

Your point was moral bankruptcy.

Now it’s a personal vendetta.

I’ve been scammed, lied to, stolen from, who hasn’t? I’ve lost thousands in different stocks or crypto because owners rug pull. You do what you can, but if you can’t no more, might as well be pissin’ into the breeze.

Sad existence if you got people living rent free in your head.

Learn to breathe and let it go man. If you had a solution to your issues you would’ve found it by now with the years of anger behind you.

he can't even get his point across without cussing
I bet you never cuss if you get frustrated from talking to ignorant or parrots who can only say same things?
I am some sort of monster for not kissing Bartok's ass or assuming it will be the most incredible shooty shoot since John Moses himself.
Bartok never stated on the OP that Mk.3 will have great accuracy other than stated 2.5 MOA from SAI.
you tell Grove to take English lessons when you can't even use it properly yourself???
Grammar issues are from my mother tongue being linguistically far from English-Romance language. But I do tend to catch them after reading it again. That doesn't mean I'm not using it 'properly' unless you only want me to talk in posh English?
Also, using sarcasm on the internet never goes well. Probably should avoid that.
Why shouldn't I when everyone else is doing it? Sarcasm seems to be epitome of Canadian English too.
I am patient and I will wait. That was never the issue. Morality and honesty were.
If those are your issues, this review shouldn't be a factor for you at all. Historyof JR and company's actions will not change even though he did apologized as per Bartok. That means you will not buy this rifle no matter how it does. If it isn't good, you won't anyways but that should be also true when it does well in live-fire review, and surely a person with high standards like you won't buy it- that is just contradicting and denying your own morality and honesty, isn't it?

It is very disturbing to see so much disrespect when we are supposed to be a like minded community promoting our beloved sport in difficult times. Lets try and get along a bit better eh!
That starts when people stop enabling and turning a blind eye to people who actively prey on the community itself.

Case in point the guy who copied a rifle design and resold it under a different name to evade the FRT, took money while knowing he wasn't going to be giving them what they paid for, ratted to the RCMP to spite his ex-partners that he was court ordered to give inventory to, only to have it backfire and get 2 different kinds of rifles prohib'd (swiss arms and CZ858). At what point are people going to hold him accountable for the damage he's done to the people in the sport? If he didn't announce this rifle, I have a strong suspicion that lots more folks wouldn't be so quick to brush yet another shady business action off.

The guy quite literally took thousands of dollars knowing that he was going to claim the business as insolvent, right up until the day they announced it and locked the doors and removed any talk or questions about the store closing to hide it. Would you trust a word out of that person's mouth? Lots of new people here have no idea the things JR has been involved with in the last couple decades, really need to read up before telling someone, least of all the poor bastard that got a $4k rifle relegated to the safe or a smelter, to lighten up or let it go.

I've watched the aforementioned things play out, wasn't impressed however i figured everyone makes mistakes. But to know he essentially stole thousands from people looking for a range or gift card for someone... I won't and can't support or trust anyone or a company involved with someone that thinks that's an acceptable way to run a business.

A thieving rat has no place in any community. Buddy is the Trudeau of the gun world and I hope people have more sense than to get in bed with him.

Knowing this rifle is a copy of the MCX (an already prohibited rifle), it would be poetic to have it reclassified as a variant of it in a twist of karma, which is entirely possible. Just ask the guy at ATRS that had his rifle copied without permission and sold under a different name to try and sneak around the unfortunate FRT reclassification HIS product received.

Here I was thinking ATRick green lit the production and refused compensation as it was public intellectual property.
