Sterling Arms International R18 Mk3 Part 1 Review - Specifications and Initial Impressions

Here I was thinking ATRick green lit the production and refused compensation as it was public intellectual property.
ATRS Shaun replied in another thread that permission was requested by phone and provided by him, as he answered to that phone call.

Rick, the owner, said he really couldn’t stop him from copying his design even though he didn’t like it.
The other difference being that junior used 6065 aluminum which was kinda a bad thing as was posted in one of the MK3 threads.
So 6065 was good enough then but now all of a sudden it’s not.

That starts when people stop enabling and turning a blind eye to people who actively prey on the community itself.

Case in point the guy who copied a rifle design and resold it under a different name to evade the FRT, took money while knowing he wasn't going to be giving them what they paid for, ratted to the RCMP to spite his ex-partners that he was court ordered to give inventory to, only to have it backfire and get 2 different kinds of rifles prohib'd (swiss arms and CZ858). At what point are people going to hold him accountable for the damage he's done to the people in the sport? If he didn't announce this rifle, I have a strong suspicion that lots more folks wouldn't be so quick to brush yet another shady business action off.

The guy quite literally took thousands of dollars knowing that he was going to claim the business as insolvent, right up until the day they announced it and locked the doors and removed any talk or questions about the store closing to hide it. Would you trust a word out of that person's mouth? Lots of new people here have no idea the things JR has been involved with in the last couple decades, really need to read up before telling someone, least of all the poor bastard that got a $4k rifle relegated to the safe or a smelter, to lighten up or let it go.

I've watched the aforementioned things play out, wasn't impressed however i figured everyone makes mistakes. But to know he essentially stole thousands from people looking for a range or gift card for someone... I won't and can't support or trust anyone or a company involved with someone that thinks that's an acceptable way to run a business.

A thieving rat has no place in any community. Buddy is the Trudeau of the gun world and I hope people have more sense than to get in bed with him.

Knowing this rifle is a copy of the MCX (an already prohibited rifle), it would be poetic to have it reclassified as a variant of it in a twist of karma, which is entirely possible. Just ask the guy at ATRS that had his rifle copied without permission and sold under a different name to try and sneak around the unfortunate FRT reclassification HIS product received.
This is a excellent summary of why I have been so openly against anything JR Cox is involved with, let alone the other bad characters in the community.

At least his shills and loyalist are making themselves blatantly obvious in the process, the "ignore" feature is a useful tool for creating a "Do not buy/sell or give any personal information" blacklist of bad characters.

Thanks you Vewdu for demonstrating strong morals.

If you knew about all of the petty, underhanded, backstabbing non-sense that goes on in this industry, you'd end up boycotting 30-50% of the venders, suppliers, clubs and ranges.

The problem with this 'summary' is that it doesn't begin to scratch the surface of the shenanigans that have gone on - by lots of parties.
It is not a true representation of all of the facts, and conveniently leaves out the biggest player in all of it; the Government of Canada and the RCMP. There is no denying individual mistakes were made, (big ones that were petty and vindictive in their nature), and smaller ones that took advantage of long ago expired patents or designs that were not protected by patent) but massive ones with respect to law making and regulatory processes are not even considered. The later is the very reason most of this mud slinging was and still is present within this community.

The conflict JC has or had with his ex-partners is between them. If by extension you want to hold it against him, fine (I won't lie, I have in the past. I'm also sure it is no small factor with respect to recent turn of events.)

But I've come round to believe the real beef I and others have over the loss of use of firearms and property should be properly directed at the regulatory body that determines suitable ownership and use. Having members of the community frothing at the mouth barking up the tree of some guy that messed up with half-baked information instead of concentrating on the true culprit isn't productive. Doing so in a thread about a rifle review is kind of asinine.

I say this as someone who can confidently say I have more money invested in the Swiss Arms family of firearms than most people have invested in this sport, so do consider that when you paint me with your 'shill' or 'loyalist' brush.

Maybe I missed it in all the sh!t posting, but is there a timeline for the replacement bolt/ parts needed to get some rounds down range? To at the very least get an example of accuracy.

Pics ?
It's been far too long since I've seen builds online and I wanna brainstorm how to waste my money for when this #### (OIC) gets scrapped

Well said.

The broad brush of “loyalist” and “shill” is being tossed around, simply at the conviction of people who seem to have way too much energy diverted at this.

I double down on my statement of,

Find a better outlet. Use the energy at finding a better solution than berating on the internet on a thread.

I have no dog in this fight, but man it’s worrisome to see the community act more divided than a Twitter post.

Not sure who whizzed in your oatmeal but Rick confirmed that he didn't give permission after Shaun's post so my recollection agrees with the owner of ATRS.
Who pissed in my Cornfkakes?!? Simple - the handful of children who trolled my Technical Review thread and turned it into a JR Cox hatefest, with some choice words for me just for being the guy's friend and showing SAI's new rifle to CGN. THAT'S who.

We are waiting on the Canadian fabricator that messed up the proprietary Bolts to produce properly-toleranced replacements. I have no idea how long it will be. I was told "several weeks" about a week ago.... FWIW.

What do you expect when you align yourself with a person that's rubbed some members of this forum the wrong way?

In either case, i didn't troll you review, my post was a statement of fact. Your reply was childish and false.
