its almost all I use but I shoot steel (out to 1000 yards, or rimfire prs type shoots) more then critters. Most critters I shoot are coyotes and prairie dogs.Canadiankeeper, have you used many FFP scopes before?
10-4, wasn't sure....its almost all I use but I shoot steel (out to 1000 yards, or rimfire prs type shoots) more then critters. Most critters I shoot are coyotes and prairie dogs.
I think im going to go with the 3-10 Leupold duplex.
I have hte 2.5 to 8 on a ruger guide gune in 30-06Hard not to look at the vx3hd 1.5-5 and 2.5-8 also, I have the 1.5-5 on a ranch.
Trijicon accupoint 3-9x40 green mildot would be a nice one too. Did lots of work on my ranch with one.
I think you made a good choice. At lower power you will have a huge field of view. I put an old Japan made Tasco 1.5 x 5 on a rifle of similar age; no problem putting tight groups on paper at 100 yards. In case anyone was wondering, this is what I went with. 1-10 SFP optic. Really like the cross hair and red dot in it. Would like to go with some lower rings but the giant knob on this rifle already hits the throw lever, so I might need to take off the throw lever or swap the bolt knob.

Question for you, does your illumination on the reticle have a noticeable glare on the higher settings? Just got mine and noticed it when I looked at it at home.If FFP isnt 100% necessary, try the new Vortex Viper HD. The 2-10 and 1 of the 3-15 offerings have a bdc reticle with an illuminated dot. I have the 3-15, and it was perfect 2 weeks ago in NL on a moose hunt. If you want to stay FFP, the PST Gen 2 in either 2-10 or 3-15 would be a good choice. I sold my older Strike Eagle 3-18 for the Gen 2 3-15, and have no regrets.
Not that I've noticed. That said, I usually only have it on half power at most, just enough to see the dot but not so bright that it gives off glare or a slight halo effect. I played with it quite a bit at the range when I first mounted and zeroed it, and did find that it was a bit too bright, for me anyway, at the top 2 or 3 settings.Question for you, does your illumination on the reticle have a noticeable glare on the higher settings?
