I used to sell IT/AV equipment and I dreaded every government and education deal. Almost every time, a room full of decision makers had zero subject matter expertise. I'm willing to bet that the same "experts" were tasked with crafting C-21
Very true. And almost always in these situations, the "experts" are given deference by others less knowledgeable (as if that is possible) or more ignorant than them, because those spouting untruths just say so louder.
There was a guy at work, a scout leader of all things, who is very anti gun. He is a pretty smart technical engineering type of guy, but because he talks like he has authority in one area where he is knowledgeable, people presume he is knowledgeable in other areas. So one day on a work management call he spouts off his anti-gun nonsense. No one called him on on it because they presumed he knew something about it as he "sounded" articulate and knowledgeable....until I spoke up and took him to the wood chopper and he was reeling as probably no one has ever countered his "arguments".
So transplant that situation with what we have here - Trudeau is relying on others who talk loud and emotionally to make the arguments. Doesn't matter if you know anything - it's that you are talking loudly, forcefully, etc.
A friend of mine, Todd, years ago showed me his family's new "surround sound" system, playing the original Jurassic Park movie. He had me sit down and turned it up. It was booming loud and my innards were shaking. But it wasn't surround sound. I can tell. So I told him all I am hearing is a mono audio signal, all the same thing through all the same speakers. So he he turned it up and said "what now?" I said you're just playing the same thing, just louder. He then turned it up some more, somehow thinking if he says it louder somehow it will resonate and change what I am hearing with my ears.
It's the same with the media and the gun control people. Shouting the same nonsense, just louder and louder each time. For someone like Trudeau and LeBlanc and Mendicino and Blair, who have little to no knowledge of firearms technology, real crime empirical data (or is simply ignoring it), the loud speaking from the gun control people are either resonating with the decision makers, or more than likely, they are being worn down by the incessant whining and complaining and like a parent who doesn't have the stones to stand up to their whining children, they just capitulate.
