Non gun gun junk...check 'er out

I somehow doubt anyone of that low a rank (Hauptscharführer) won the Iron cross with swords, oakleaf and diamonds. In fact, I doubt anyone lower rank than field marshall won diamonds, though I stand to be corrected.

It would also not be likely that such a lucky "Head Squad Leader" would wear his gorget EK along with his tunic ribbon AND his breast pin EK. Certainly not all three on a field uniform.

It does look nice though ;)

And by the way, An EK1 Knight's Cross with Oak leaves, swords and diamonds would be worth WELL over $6000 if it was real ;) Only the Grand Cross is rarer, they only made ONE.

Clave, its only a EK1 with oak leaves

Only one EK1 with oak leaves/swords/in gold/with diamonds was ever made...it was awarded to Oberst Hans-Ulrich Rudel

The Grand Cross was just another fantasy of Goerings

I got the tunic from an aquantince and gun show dealer who simply didnt want to sell it publicly....to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands

Oberst Rudel.

Is it authentic, I have a nice collection of 3rd reich memorbilia if your a collector of such fine things?
What did you mean by preventing it from falling into the wrong hands?

My bad, must just be pixelation in the pic, thought I saw the diamond cluster??

Anyhow... is the EK1 with leaves legit or repro?

I too collect 3reich goodies...original stuff (guns) and other

Insignia and medals are too expensive and hard to verify as original so i stay away

The seller didnt want some neo-nazi punk-ass arse hole to buy it

Claven-everything is repro...I think and the seller thinks...the medals are scarily perfect right down to the smallest detail including makers marks....they could EASILY be used to dupe someone

didnt even notice the oak leaves.
Yea, German ww2 insignia is so drenched with fakes it makes it very hard and often painfully difficult to find something rare and original.

I'm mildly curious- I have an old Iron Cross;what should I look for to prove it to be either genuine or counterfeit? Or is that even possible?

If you ask 100 'experts' you will get 50 saying its a fake and 50 saying its genuine

Unless its a real bad fake

Providence seems to be best (yer Grandpa brought it back after being wounded at Villers Bocage, Normandy)

One is a Knight's Cross with oak leaves.
One is an Iron Cross second class ribbon.
One is an Iron Cross first class badge.

All could be worn at the same time, however the button hole ribbons and the ribbon bar above the pocket were either/ or, not both.

Anyway, enough nitpicking, Klunk inspired me

I've also got a Waffen SS corporal, SS Panzer Sergeant, and five different Canadian regiments. I'm also working on a tropical FJ uniform, but I hate sewing patches so I'm procrastinating.

Yours at least has the right breast eagle with swastika in the correct place. Klunk has to move his. For some reason his seems to be sewed onto the left sleeve.
I have a bit of German stuff, medals, wound badges etc. It is more difficult to verify until you own it and can get in depth to the construction and find the databases etc online with the makers stamps, technical specs and fake
"lookouts" on different forums. Real WW2 German stuff can be verified quite easily once you own it, which I suppose is the pitfall.....you have to buy it before you can get it in hand to look in depth to see if you got screwed.
