Spring Bear hunting what rifle and caliber will you be carrying?

Well Spring for me comes in September, like all Ontario residents, However this year I will likely take my 45-70 sharps. Plan on building a tree stand this year and moving a bait pile to 75 yards. Never shot a bear with a 45-70 and is something i wanted to do for some time, will use 500 grain lead casts bullets not at a screeming velocity (lol) but should drive a nice hole through it. Been talking about this for 10 years and I always sem to take a high power rifle, but this year is the year to go with the 45-70. I would also like to shoot one with a 577 snider, lol but now i am getting carried away .

sometimes you NEED a LOT of stopping power..

.338WM or RUM. Once I find me a rifle in one of the aforementioned calibers. Failing that, my 45-70 or 300Whizzum may tag along.

For my first excursion I'm taking:

1) .300 Win Mag rifle
2) 12ga shotgun with slugs

What do you guys think? Decent?

I'll be packing a Remington 700 SPS in 7mm Rem Mag, and my hunting partner will be backing me up with a Mossberg Maverick 12 gauge pump loaded with alternating 00 buckshot and slugs. Some of the bush around here is real thick and i have no intention of going in after a wounded bear with out some heavy firepower in front of me. :)
