Crusader Arms Crypto

After dealing with the RCMP SFSS, I can say pretty confidently say that they will determine this is an AR-15 variant. It is essentially an ATRS Modern Sporter, which in the RCMP’s opinion is an AR-10/AR-15 variant.

Good on them for going ahead and ignoring the RCMP and selling it anyway, and I hope it all works out for them, but buyer beware.

I tried to warn people back in July….

I’d bet that the RCMP are going to lay a charge on the manufacturer/wholesaler, especially after the X95 MSW fiasco. The RCMP SFSS absolutely HATE manufacturers and importers, and see them as shady people trying to skirt the law. They’ll probably lay a charge, and then use that as a scare tactic for individual owners to surrender their cryptos, and for retailers to co-operate and send them customer data/info in order to track them down and collect.

Criminal possession of a prohibited firearm is nothing a regular person would f.uck around with.

It's not an OIC firearm, AR15, Mini 30 etc, whereby the owner is protected from prosecution while in possession of it.

This is new ground that opened up today for all but the oldest of us.

SPAS 12 anyone .?

I don’t think you’re far off here at all. Also think of the amount of YouTube videos and social media content made by individuals who have proclaimed themselves as owners reviewing these rifles. This is real bad news…

Yea this outcome was obvious for anyone with half a brain since the day it was announced.

Anyone still unconvinced then got a big clue last month when the Crypto wasn’t on the OIC.

I also applaud Crusader arms for saying #### the gov, but nobody should be shocked. All those affected can go ahead and blame the geniuses who bought a clearly prohibited rifle and then went and tried to have it registered. And the liberals.

Fear monger much ?

Canadian gun manufactures have the chance to do the funniest thing right now... where's that receiver set Spectre Ltd teased? Lol.

Imagine a constant cat and mouse game with new model receiver sets getting released, then banned. Honestly if the receivers alone were only a couple hundred bucks I wouldn't even be mad. I mean it took them 2 years to ban the Crypto right? Crusader should release a new slightly different receiver set called the "Fiat" or something, then I can just swap my parts over
😆

How about "Flypto"?

The loop hole is closing, meaning ALL guns , domestically manufactured will need an FRT entry before public sale will be allowed.

Thus means at least a 2 year wait for new models to be released when the holen is plugged.

Filing the mag well and altering the gun to accept AR15 mags was a big nail in its coffin.

A Canadian manufacturer is unlikely to bother again after this, not without some serious assurance that they will not get bent over like Lockheart and Crusader have been. It can't be cheap to do the design and development not to mention tooling.

There is (and never was) any design or development involved.

It’s 2 parts from an AR-15 with one line changed. Completely trivial to engineer.

I get what you're saying but I think they still came out on top. $1k for receiver made completely in house, $2k for full rifles and they were flying off the shelves for 2 years. They couldnt keep up with demand. Now unless they get caught up in a court case over all this... they made some good money.

I could see some else trying to fill the void. There is obviously demand for it.

The crypto was obviously an ar15 variant. The only thing that was not ar15 was the takedown pin and the mag well. Canadians love to find loopholes and hoops to jump through. Point is, it was an ar15 that was non restricted because it used a different takedown pin and made it through all the loopholes. Everyone knew this was coming. I genuinely do feel bad for the people who believed they were completely writhin the law then were duped. This is nothing new for Canada for the last 40 years. Look at the uk and Australia. We are there with them. The current government wanted us to be here and here we are

Using horizontal takedown pins, deleting the forward assist and modifying the magwell only required changing one line of code and was trivial to do? Sounds a bit off to me.

Buy solid works and find out.

Yes it is trivial. Look at the complex bespoke systems that are designed every day.

This isn’t an oil rig or a rocket to the moon, it’s a redesign of one surface on a well established receiver design.

An afternoon’s work, or generously maybe a weekend.

So 5 Grand for the software, and what's a few CAD milling machines cost these days? Last price I saw was when we still had a family machine shop buying a used one for 500 Grand 20 years ago.

How’s that relevant? Crusader has been around for years and had all that a long time ago.

The point is not whether you can spring a manufacturing business up for free, it’s whether this design required any real “design and development”. It did not.

skirt the law... how about rcmp then follows the laws instead?

The OIC process itself is the biggest loophole in the country. Used all the time in ways it was never meant to be used. I just wish the far-left idiots were smart enough to realize that other things could just as easily be banned by OIC... things like gaay marriage... or abortion, or...

Was prob some anti gun A hole who got one and sent it in demanding it get banned
I actually figured these would be safe unless the liberals won the election
Didn’t think this kind of stuff could happen during the election run of all things
