I used to make 40-65 brass from Winchester 45-70 brass using Lyman 40-65 dies, and Lee resizing lube which was/is lanolin based.
I used Winchester brass as it was very slightly thinner walled than Remington, and this was before Starline brass was commonly available
I sized well-lubed brass initially using the seating die first as it's dimensions were slightly larger than the sizing die, and then sized it down fully in stages using the sizing die, rotating the brass in the shell holder as I did so.
Trying to do it in only one pass through the sizer alone usually didn't work very well and produced vertically creased/wrinkled necks.
