Looking for a set of 40-60 Marlin dies or Winchester 40-65 apparently work as well.
Is there another way around this loading? Dies seem difficult to find.
Any help would be appreciated!

C&H Tool and Die
Great service and good price.
Recently got 25-20 Single Shot dies from them.
40-60 Marlin is in their list.
Cheers

Thank you. I just brought a chamber reamer in from PTG, Canadian Customs hit the $288 shipment with tariffs of $80, had it labeled as “Steel”. Was hoping to avoid a similar event, but may have to go this route eventually.

I would research how close another cartridge that u can get dies for are. Maybe you can neck size, expand and crimp with more popular dies

This is part of that research piece.
Other than 40-60 and 40-65 to finish the process for chambering, options are limited. If I could find a chamber reamer could make a die as well.

I used to make 40-65 brass from Winchester 45-70 brass using Lyman 40-65 dies, and Lee resizing lube which was/is lanolin based.
I used Winchester brass as it was very slightly thinner walled than Remington, and this was before Starline brass was commonly available
I sized well-lubed brass initially using the seating die first as it's dimensions were slightly larger than the sizing die, and then sized it down fully in stages using the sizing die, rotating the brass in the shell holder as I did so.
Trying to do it in only one pass through the sizer alone usually didn't work very well and produced vertically creased/wrinkled necks.

Have you tried "Beaks and Brass", or "Rayn'er Shine Gunworks".
Both great places and have supplied me with some odd brass. (may or may not be listed on website)
Cheers

I read elsewhere that Starline is making a run of 40-65 Brass.
Rusty Wood Trading also indicates that 40-65 will be available Aug 15 / 2025 on their website.
Best of Luck
Cheers

I don't know if the two are interchangeable, but Budget Shooter Supply ( a site sponsor ) has dies.

He might be able to shed some light on the topic.

Please keep us informed so we know for next time.

40-65 Win dies will form the brass, for a slightly larger bullet, about 3-4 thou larger. The Marlin should have enough wear to handle the larger pill no problem. Will slug the bore prior. Only Brass that has been remotely available is Bertram 40-65 Win and it’s real spendy. None of the suggested places above have had brass in stock and Starline imports seem delayed. Have a set of die’s at least now.
