Should be a factory offering ! Just a bit bigger to shoot heavier bullets then the Good 6.5 PRC
- Very similar to the GREAT 7 mm RSAUM cartridge - JMO
I’d like to see 160 grain .264” bullets and lots of them. There’d be no need to step up the 6.5prc to a 7mm.
Too overbore?? Maybe you mis-read, a 7-6.5 PRC (6.5 necked up) aka the 7-6.5 PRCW. Its more efficient then the 7 PRC and in a short action. Guys run it all over in F-Class and Erik Cortina speaks very highly of it.Too overbore IMHO.
I'd rather jump up a cal and go heavier then try and milk smaller for everything it's got.
There are plenty of large case 6.5's already, Nosler, Weatherby, throw that in a 1:7 twist barrel and she'd be a smooth bore in 500 rounds lol.
Huh ? Your very mistaken ! it’s not overbore at all . Better do a bit of researchToo overbore IMHO.

I did read it wrong, was thinking 6.5 in 7prc case lolToo overbore?? Maybe you mis-read, a 7-6.5 PRC (6.5 necked up) aka the 7-6.5 PRCW. Its more efficient then the 7 PRC and in a short action. Guys run it all over in F-Class and Erik Cortina speaks very highly of it.
And your necking up not down so its actually less overbore.....
Now a 22-6.5 PRC, thats overbore lol
Lapua brass and brass availibility is what makes the 7 6.5 interesting. Basically the thing that made the 7saum less popular. Brass being sold out/ having to pre order due to adg only doing 1 or 2 runs a year.So what’s the gain/loss for all of these cartridges? 280–ackley, 7saum, 7wsm, 284 winchester and the new kid 7-6.5prcw? Any others?
I’m going 7saum for what it’s worth. For the price of brass it might be worth going with this 7-6.5prcw. I don’t know.
Nevermind, the base of the saum is slightly bigger. That would probably/maybe be an issue. So here’s the 7saum and 6.5prc case. I wonder if a guy could run a prc case through a sizing die and load them up?
I was just looking at brass and lapua 6.5prc brass is $240/100 and adg 7saum is about $280-290
Yep thats all you do, expand the neck to 7mm and off you go. Its that easy.So here’s the 7saum and 6.5prc case. I wonder if a guy could run a prc case through a sizing die and load them up?

Id love a 7BC, and I don't think its going to be a flop BUT for us Canuck's its going to be tough to justify the cost with tariffs. And unfortunately I don't see those going anywhere anytime soon.I'm not buying anything new until we get more info on the 7bc case technology. I'll gladly take a long action if it means I get magnum performance while fitting 4-5 in a flush fit magazine.
But if 7bc turns out to be a flop then a 7-6.5prc would be a perfect fit for the performance I want out of a hunting rifle - 3000fps with a 160gr bullet is right about perfect to me.

Gotta remember Federal is the only one who's making ammo for it and, this is me assuming here so I could be very wrong, but they will be the only one who will ever make ammo for it as I cant see them selling their patent on that case/technology so others can produce it. Is that a bad thing? Guess time will tell.
Lapua brass not being a US made product. Federal on the other hand... I don't see the 7-6.5 being competition for the 7bc due to one being mainly useful for f-class, which is all about consistency, low ES lower velocities etc. The other one being a hunting round, aimed at getting high velocity from a short barrel. With some reloading nuances, as in case life and how accurate you can shoulder bump consistently to achieve uniform ammo. Which would be a big no to any F-class guy.How do tariffs impact 7bc but not 7-6.5prc?
And as far as I'm aware you can't even buy factory ammo or rifles in 7-6.5prc? Wouldn't that make it the more expensive option for most people?
