BCL MRX Bison Recon

Man I really want to get one of them MRX bison but I keep hearing bad things about it. Almost every review video on YouTube had it sent back for maintenance. Not convincing at all unfortunately. I really like the 20 rounds mag and the looks of the rifle. But I feel like I will ultimately grab a ruger ranch instead...

The warranty service at BCL is fantastic. If you do have a problem with your rifle they fix it immediately.

My ruger american I waited over a year for a part. Keltec Norinco Smith and Wesson all of these the warranty never got the parts to fix. Firearms are machines and if you use them they will break. BCL stands behind their product anything else here in Canada no.

I had problems with my Ruger Ranch out of the box. The bolt was so stiff and people on here said, just cycle it 500 times !!!??? Still, everybody raves about them. The trigger was horrible, the stock could almost bend around a corner, that much flex - no problem people on here said, just put it in another chassis. And don't even think about getting a Mini 30 magazine conversion kit, it does not cycle properly.

As you mentioned and this is also my experience at least in Canada, warranty for those big manufacturers is horrible. Gravel Agency is the warranty center for Ruger. Up until last year, you could deal with them directly, now you have to go to your dealer who then deals with them. Never gets anything done. And of course you pay for shipping. What kind of warranty is that?

Totally different in the US of course.

I think a Howa mini action in an mdt lss chassis would give you a lighter, more accurate rifle. With better product support. Only 10rd mags available, but if you’ve missed with the first 10 then that’s probably that.

I have been trying to contact BCL for over 2 weeks (voice messages & emails), and no response back. Did you call in through their main line and use option #2 Sales & Warranty Support?

** Update, their warrant person was out for a couple weeks and has contacted me now. Parts are on the way

Everybody raves about the warranty service from BCL...but of course, everybody seems to need it too. I don't want to buy something that I can easily get service and parts for if I keep needing to do so. I want something that works properly from the get-go.

I've had 8 or 9 Americans in assorted chamberings and configurations, just sold a couple recently, will probably own more in future. A couple of them, purchased new several years ago, required some breaking-in to run smoothly, although they never failed to feed and function properly. Others were smooth right out of the box, especially the more recent-production ones. None of them required any warranty work or parts. I've swapped out stocks and chassis, changed the magwell assembly on several, and changed a couple of barrels. Accuracy has been consistently good, sometimes much better than merely good.

Will I need to wait for parts or service? I dunno, maybe; I won't know until I need parts or service, and so far I haven't.

I really wanted to like the Bison when it came out, but when I handled one in Cabela's I couldn't get past what a heavy, sharp-cornered square-off little piglet it was. Its bolt was at least as rough as the worst American I've ever cycled. I had gone into the store to buy the gun; I left empty-handed and don't regret the decision.

To each his own ...

My BCL 5.56/223 16" was easy to reload for and one of the best. Fun to shoot! Well under moa with a high end / high power scope as well ... pretty well shoots to point of aim, as long as I know the distance. Bolt is not sloppy, it's pretty smooth, and trigger let off is crisp. Wind is the only enemy at the longer ranges past 400/500; especially because it's small 5.56/223 and shooting light bullets. Certainly can't get them way out there like my 6.5 nor 338 PRS set ups. Not hard on funds either - very reasonable and a very very good shooting platform especially at the cost. Current Load Im liking thus far: 50 gr VMax, 26.0 grs Benchmark, 27.0 grs H335.

To each his own ...

Is BCL making these anymore. They seem to be sold out at all the retailers.
Not to sure but they most definitely are great at serving current equipment.

I had some light primer strikes and within a couple days of contacting I had the parts at my door and installed.

Been pretty happy I may consider getting one of the 16” broncos in .308 if I do decide to take up hunting.
