Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

Yes and No, a lot of care needs to be taken to make sure the reamer feeds straight into the old chamber.

It's not difficult but it's not as easy as cutting a new chamber from a bore.

I refused to recut a chamber in a 30-06 one time for a fellow who wanted it to become a 300 Win mag.

Remember, with the larger diameter body, there isn't a pilot guiding the reamer true to the axis of the bore. Not only that but the reamer is making the initial cuts with its shoulder, which can quickly lead to chatter and that can be hard to clean up to impossible to clean up.

The 30-06 reamer starts to bite into the side wall of the 8x57 chamber appx 3/4 of the way down, and the tapers are close enough that it still works well with a floating reamer guide, but you still need to be extremely careful, especially if you're doing the job with a 30-06 reamer and chasing the neck/throat with a separate reamer.

First, you have to swap out the bore guide on the reamer from .308 to .323 if it's rotating or shrink fit a sleeve onto a solid guide and turn it to .323 so it will work as a guide while cutting the chamber. If it isn't fed true or for some reason wanders, the barrel is ruined.
Wow sounds like a delicate process. You ever seen someone screw it up?.

Alright well thanks to you guys and your bad influence on me I bought another husquevarna 640 in 8x57. Im just curious as to what peep sight would fit on this thing.

Nice!

I actually just bought a commercial m96 (no thumb cut) husky in 8x57 from intersurplus. Put a 2.5 fixed power on it. Very slick.

Excited to get out with it this season. 175grns at 2550 fps and 196grn at 2400 should do the job. I could push it more, but its pretty light and snappy already.

Your getting me more excited with my new acquisition!. What are you thinking of hunting?

Sounds like your freezer is lonely. Better fix that with a bunch of moose or deer sausage.🤣
Still have quite a bit of Backstrap left from this poor fellow. Just made the tenderloins seared in oil, then butter up with thyme rosemary and garlic added for flavors. Then some red wine reduction.

He got the Swedish mauser treatment though. 100grn sp at 2900fps.

Just got this beauty a Husqvarna m98 can’t believe you can get such quality and workmanship for so little. Here are a few pics as she sits right now not going to do much with it just clean and oil and see how she runs .can’t do much to improve it perfect hunting rifle and chambered in the very capable 30-06 ,what more could a man want in a hunting rifle
That's a late 640, if you mind knowing.

Not trying to hijack the attention from your beautifull new rifle Gordon. But I bought a husquevarna in 30 06 from intersurplus about a year ago and am trying to figure out what model it is and the year of manufacture. I will provide photos. It has some nice wood!
This is a 640, based on the late FN98 so called "commercial" action. Your SN 190 490 puts it in 1958, which is in the last known batches of 640 made.
