A Couple of New Prohib Arrivals - Daewoo KC20 & HK93....

A couple of beauties saved! That’s awesome guy! So stoked for you to share those pics with us. Nostalgia for sure.

Dad bought a sporting goods store in the late 80’s… I remember the Daewoo HC20 we had in the store, and also the Saturday a guy bought it and it left for its new home…..

It just did not matter how much I fondled that gun. I just could not convince the old man to bring it home.. In hind sight it was probably cause all the money he was spending on me for hockey…

How did you go about doing that? Direct from them or did you need to use IRunGuns or something like that?

A.s.T.E.k. Armoury.... Just send them a link to the item that you want on the HKParts website and they will calculate brokerage, etc, add the item to their Canadian website, and will then send you a link to the item with the new import pricing so that you can order. Delivery typically takes around 2 months, depending on when you order versus when they place their monthly orders to the US vendors. The process is quite painless and the "Canadian Premium" added to each item as it joins the Canadian website is typically quite reasonable.

I had a friend back in the early 80's who belonged to the same handgun club as I did. He had a Daewoo that I shot occasionally when he brought it out to shoot groundhogs. I honestly don't recall much about it, which likely means that it didn't impress me much.

I was lucky enough to have a HK93 back then for a year or two. Never a problem of any sort with it, loved it and felt it was twice the gun an AR was, but eventually traded it off to another buddy for a HK91...the ultimate gun, at least in my opinion back then...which was stolen, along with the car it was in, only a few weeks later. They went restricted a few years later...we couldn't believe it...and then prohibited shortly after that. The beginning of the end. :(

Thx. I've bought lots of stuff from them.

Did you know they have a veteran discount? You just have to ask them about it and they will set it up for you.

Easy. You just need to go back in time 30 years and get yourself grandfathered into the 12.5 class. 🤷‍♂️ :ROFLMAO:

But you still can’t shoot them so I don’t see the point. Maybe if you have a few thousand acres not sure. However very nice acquisitions there op. Too bad you didn’t live stateside and get most of your collection dirty 😊

No time travel required. Start a business working with prohibited guns.

Oh, and as a side benefit, a business doesn't have to have their converted autos verified.
Easier said than done. I know someone who took two years to get a Business Firearm License. Runkle said he was at it for three years to get his license.

I'm not sure if a business transaction for a CA would need to go through the Firearms Lab. I do know the govt is intentionally sitting on prohibited firearms transfers for businesses, which seems a wee bit obtuse, given that it is a licensed business purchasing the thing.

Time travel might just be the easier option.

Took us 2 months - which was likely luck. I know other people I coached took longer but nowhere near years. This approval time is dependant on the cfo - they are all different. AB is somehow most strict, takes longest and throws in unusual conditions - go figure. Our livestock guardian dog also tried to eat the inspectors which didn't seem to cause issues.

Business transfer of a ca doesn't need to go through a lab. Semi, ca or fa are all the same.

The "sitting' is entirely up to the cfo but are usually a couple months. Same as for handguns if they go for 'review' which tells me it's just how long the queue takes. There is an auction transfer from which takes forever... But they somehow can never produce the transfer reference numbers... Which tells me it's likely them sitting on the transfers and blaming the cfo ;)

As a bonus, business use only ranges do not require cfo inspection or approval.

Anyhow, I don't know how to time travel. But this was very much doable.

How long ago did you get your BFL? Twenty five years ago, they were relatively easy and fairly quick to get. Today, it seems to take forever, at least in Alberta.

It was the CFO who told me that CFP is sitting on prohibition transfers to businesses. I asked about handguns and apparently those are no issue.

2019 and in QC. I have helped people in other provinces and in QC since then. Yes, AB is surprisingly restrictive. Counterintuitive.

I haven't noticed any particular delays in transferring prohibited if the seller starts the transfer promptly. 2-4 weeks.

I enjoy these threads.

No jealousy, just happy I have a Colt Canada. Soon others will feel the same way about now that, now it is prohib.

The trouble is I need to shoot it. Really miss my ar at the range.

We had a transfer hit 2 months with nothing happening so I talked to the CFO about it and they pushed it through.

I know of someone in the process of BFL application so we shall see how that goes. So far it has gone way faster than I thought it would.
