Marlin 1894 Trapper in 10mm

I like the 180 and 200 XTP bullets. The nose geometry is nice for feeding threw all of my 10mm's also.
The xtp sure deform nicely.
Dale has mine sitting there waiting, going to want to try a rail and scope after a couple hundred rounds with the peep sights.

I need to buy more 155gr and 180gr XTP's still have 2 boxes of the 200gr XTP's on shelf and I am down to my last box of Nosler 135gr JHP's would like to get one more but not sure if they make them any more.

I did not mention before = a side extension hammer spur came in the box and the Skinner peep insert can screw out so you can use the larger ghost ring that I prefer.

Swapped scopes

Here are my tools for mounting scopes and the compact 3-9 installed

Set up at 50 yards and kind of zeroed scope

Re Glock bulge these were my top pressure/velocity IMR800x 200gr XTP’s loads

Yup. Looks about right for hot 10mm loads. Into the plinking bucket ..
Glad i have a pile of 10mm brass for hot loads. Wont be reloading tired brass to max pressure more than once

Top left three are my 180gr MT gold plinking loads

Lower three on the right are my 200gr Beartooth WFNGC top blue dot loads

Target was 50 yards shooting off ammo bag for rest

Those four where brand new brass

I will definitely be working up loads specifically for this rifle

In the Trapper length barrel, does 10mm exceed .357 mag in muzzle energy?
Have not chrono'ed it yet I have data from my 18" T/C Contender barrel if you want that

Re Glock bulge = I just realized I was not clear on it was only the top IMR 800X loads that gave me the bulge the rest came out perfectly

One other thing I have been gentle on actioning the action due to not wanting to lose the brass in the snow so have not had the best extractions I believe this is due to me being so gentle with it.

Interesting. Was hoping for a fully supported chamber. Oh well
Your rifle sure groups the heavier lead likey champ camp cook.
Braver then me. Not shooting in this nasty weather. Good on ya gunnie

I just picked up the same rifle today in 44 Magnum from P&D in Edmonton. I can’t believe the fit and finish, the action is smoother than on my JM stamped Marlin 1895 GS in 45-70. The Skinner sight is great, even with my old eyes. I can’t wait to get to the range with it. It will be my backup when bow hunting this fall. It came with the trigger spur, lock and is threaded for a brake. I’m extremely impressed with the quality. Now I just need to find a proper load for it. With tax, $2089.50. As per normal, great service from P&D.
