Why are AR mags still pinned if only bolts and pumps are legal?

(i) a semi-automatic handgun that is not commonly available in Canada,

The "commonly available in Canada" stipulation only applies to handguns. Unless there is a change in law, STANAG mags are limited to 5 regardless of which guns are available, because they were designed for use in semi auto firearms.

You can only do that & get away with it, if you are Poly Sht Spewers Montreal reporter doing a puff peice for them on how easily it is to remove a rivet.

Because there is a mountain of evidence somewhere showing there has been so many people charged with that in Canada, right... šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚
 
That pin is the only thing seperating the law abiding gun owners from the crazy murderous criminals. Lots of studies show if that pin is removed, you instantly become a crazy... Oh wait, just like all gun laws in canadia, it's based on utter nonsense that can't be defended.

It's an interesting point though, are people who then bought bolt action .223 or .308 rifles that take AR mags now breaking the law if they remove the rivets to use those mags in those rifles?

I do note that RCMP Labs did make a sneaky rush play to ban all bolt action rifles with removable magazines in the last round of legislative oppression, but not even Canada was going to put up with that and they had to withdraw that clause- for now. But where does that leave the mags?

The libs have been clear for awhile now that mags are in their crosshairs and restrictive measures will be forthcoming.

As we go further into commie territory, it's a one way street of more and more restrictions until full prohibition.
