Which scope are you putting on your Makasi MK-15?

Upon further consideration and a little research the Apex Vapor 1-4 seems like a great idea but I'm going to have to wait and see a few more reviews.

I was thinking being a prism would mean the 1X eyebox would be fantastic... apparently it's not even as good as an LPVO? Gonna have to see what a few more reviewers find. If that's the case it's alot less compelling. The form factor and weight are pros though... Hmm.

I ended up wanting more zoomies so I already sold that Vortex Venom 1-6 from my OP. I've got a Hawke Endurance 30 FD 1.7-10x44mm on the way.

On paper it sounds very impressive especially for the price, I should find out next week. I'm thinking I can get away without an offset red dot and just use the fiber dot at 1.7x for close distances.

The only review (Cyclops Joe) I could find was the same scope but 2-12x which I would have preferred, but I couldn't say no to the much cheaper price of the 1.7.

It's made in China, designed in the UK. I'd never heard of Hawke but apparently they've been around for awhile.

You can move your head a good distance Left, Right or Up around the Scope without compromising a part of the image. Hey Bartok, need your advice. I ended up selling the 1-6 Venom and I've got a Hawke Endurance 30 FD 1.7-10x44mm on the way.

However, I kept the one-piece Vortex Sport 30mm Cantilever Mount. To my surprise, the scope ring screws had blue Loctite on them, applied and torqued from the factory. Everything I've read says to NOT Loctite those screws.

I'm assuming I'll need to clean these screws and hole threads before mounting my new Hawke. Got any tips on the easiest way to clean those fine threads?

I've tried this before by soaking the screws in Hoppes No. 9 cleaner, but it didn't work at all. Scraping the threads with a fine pick, or even a brush didn't work well either. Is this just a case of "too bad" and tedious elbow grease? Or is there a stronger cleaner/process you'd recommend?

Haha, I guess I'll have to bed it to ensure it's free floated šŸ˜ it's a Vortex Precision Cantilever QD mount. I had everything else except the scope in my parts bin box, so only had to pay for the scope this time around.

Really, that's a Vortex mount? I don't recognize the logo on the QD levers. It's nice when you're able to repurpose stuff, gives it a new place to call home!

Yeah I'm very eager myself for this Makasi to arrive. I've some other goodies on the way for it, single stage TriggerTech Duty, Flat, 3.5lbs fixed and some anti-walk trigger pins. It'll be my first aftermarket trigger.

Yeah, actual logo and Vortex name is on the other side. You can see the same icon that's on the QD mount there as well, some kind of an eagle I guess.

Speaking of the trigger.. I think I'll have to buy one as well. Probably Triggertech.

Vortex re-branded ADM, I believe. Seekins makes their non-qd precision rings/mounts.
