Anyone shooting IPSC mini rifle?

Don't know really. But I can very much confirm that it makes a difference. When you use it to load, the mag is no happy. When you don't touch it, it's pew, pew goodness. :)

I imagine it is somehow due to the rounds being loaded and held in a certain position when the spring is under tension as opposed to them dropping in willy nilly when using the assist. I have others mention that these mags work well when loaded the traditional way from the top but unsure if they use the assist.

It is a shame as loading 22LR from the top is a PITA. I believe there is a loading device you can buy for these mags now that makes loading from the top easier but everywhere I looked it was out of stock.

I've even tried only pushing on the doohicky a little kind of like an "assist" rather than enough to drop in the next round. Still no bueno doing it that way.

I was going to try that so it is disappointing to hear it doesn't work either.

Loading these mags to full capacity not a pleasant experience so looking for something to help.

So which gets used more? The Adler or the 10/22?

The Adler looks "right" for these sorts of games (AR ish looks, compact size, would imagine it handles well etc etc) but the 10/22 is very customizable as it has been around for a while (maybe not so much for the Adler).

And the big question - which of the two has been more reliable?
100% 10/22 all around for the reasons you mentioned

It may be hard to grow Mini Rifle. I don’t think a lot of the IPSC pistol guys will cross over as long as they can continue shooting their pistols. A Mini Rifle Black Badge course would be required to draw in new shooters.
Yes, something needs to be done to open up dynamic shooting to people without access to a handgun. Perhaps they could allow people to obtain an IPSC Rifle Black Badge with a rimfire or SKS rather than requiring a handgun. Many dynamic shooting sports are inaccessible without a Black Badge, at least in Ontario.

I know IPSC BC are working on something for the reasons you mention (Segway to get new shooters into the sport). Supposedly will be out soon.

They also stated that the black badge was "universal" as in, if you had it for pistol it could be used for the other disciplines (this is what I have done - handgun BB but shot PCC / mini rifle / shotgun).

For new shooters with no pistols that isn't really an option though hence the requirement for something new.

I have a pistol and have shot one official IPSC match last year, and am signed up for another in a months time. But with that said, I thought it would be fun to run it with my lever action 44mag, but I was doing some reading that if the match doesn't specifically list PCC for entry then it's a no go. Oh well, maybe I'll pick the brain of the long time IPSC guys at the match over lunch one of the days for their thoughts regarding opening the sport to new shooters

I'm interested in IPSC mini rifle but not sure what the requirements are? I assume you don't need black badge since theres no holsters with rifle? Do you need an IPSC membership? Or can you just show up and participate?

IPSC membership and Black Badge are required. Here we are putting on courses for minigun/PCC for guys wanting to get into it that don't have handguns.
