Short barrels for Ruger 10/22 (8in, 10in, 12in)

Haven't spent much time searching for longer options. In your opinion is there demand for this? It seems most of the long range guys are running other platforms (not 10/22).

12" for sure. If they come in take-down options even better.
A few guys have expressed interest in 12in. So far we are leaning towards the first batch being 12 inchers. Maybe also some 10 inch ones. Depending on how many people express interest.

Below that is greater blast and velocity loss. It should be long enough to be legally hunt-worthy for the BC folks out there. 13” would be great and still very handy and packable even with a linear compensator. I’ve handled 12” barrel models and I don’t think a 13/14” would be any less handy.
18.5” is noticeably less handy and packable though.

We aren't looking at any 13 or 14inch models at this time, as the readily available options are 8, 10, and 12. Based on feedback I think 12 will be coming soon as well as probably 10in too.
They'd be slightly more money than the non-TD version. Probably around 10% more. If you know anyone else looking for short TD, tell them to post here! The more feedback we get the more likely something is to happen.
I have a 12” that i purchased a few months ago here in canada.
It works very well BUT the tenon was not a tight fit in the SBI receiver i am using.
SBI has a set screw above and i have a dlask adjustable vblock below and nothing has shaken loose but i wud have preferred a tighter fit.
Its going to move to another receiver soon so we will see if thats tighter.
Shoots well enough for me. (Minute of Centre Mass) but i havent tried good ammo in it to see what it can do.

If I was going to get a 12 Inch takedown barrel, I'd prefer to order it with an extra Takedown Locking Block Mechanism so the option of switching barrels would be easier. I'd probably get a spare magpul backpacker foreend as well...
Yes. We are trying for September 2026 for the first run. It will be somewhat dependent on supplier stock which is currently depleted. But we are optimistic!
The first run will have ~10in and ~12in options for sure. May also bring in a couple 8in barrels. The first run is likely to only be standard 10/22 rather than takedown, unless we receive increased demand specifically for takedown barrels.

I don't really care about fancy stuff like fluting or .920" heavy profiles, as a mini rifle build like this would not require sub-MOA accuracy anyways. A standard profile 8" would be awesome. Fluting won't save much weight for something this short anyways.
The 26" OAL rule does not apply here if it's a fixed stock. SBI built an one-off ST-22 with a 4.5" barrel and 20.4" OAL with a non-restricted FRT #199099-1, for example: https://gunlink.ca/detail.php?frn=199099
