Yikes! Out of curiosity, I cranked my scope down all the way to the end of its travel (i.e. raising the POI to its maximum) and found that when sighted at 50 yards I have only an additional 15 clicks, less than 4MOA, from bottoming out. This is with standard velocity ammo; hi-velocity would print a bit higher and thus leave me a bit more wiggle-room at the bottom.
Depending upon velocity, bullet weight, etc. this might result in problems if I were to take it out to 100 yards, specifically with standard- or low-velocity ammo. My most common target shooting is at 100 yards at some permanent "gongs"...actually valve blanks from an oil refinery job I once worked at, so relatively mild steel and thus only useful for rimfire.
On top of that, I'm close to the edge of the scope's adjustment range and am certainly not looking through the "sweet spot" of the glass. Not a huge concern for a casual plinker, but still...
I kinda wish I hadn't done this; just something more to fret about which in reality might never have come to light during normal shooting. I hope that I will find a high-velocity load that shoots well in this gun and minimizes this concern.
As someone stated earlier, this might add to the idea that these guns suffer from droopy barrels. Consider that some owners are finding it difficult to sight in at all, and in my case I'm sighted but with very little margin for error in moving the POI upwards any further.
