Northern Rim...yet another cheap shortie .22

Yikes! Out of curiosity, I cranked my scope down all the way to the end of its travel (i.e. raising the POI to its maximum) and found that when sighted at 50 yards I have only an additional 15 clicks, less than 4MOA, from bottoming out. This is with standard velocity ammo; hi-velocity would print a bit higher and thus leave me a bit more wiggle-room at the bottom.

Depending upon velocity, bullet weight, etc. this might result in problems if I were to take it out to 100 yards, specifically with standard- or low-velocity ammo. My most common target shooting is at 100 yards at some permanent "gongs"...actually valve blanks from an oil refinery job I once worked at, so relatively mild steel and thus only useful for rimfire.

On top of that, I'm close to the edge of the scope's adjustment range and am certainly not looking through the "sweet spot" of the glass. Not a huge concern for a casual plinker, but still...:(

I kinda wish I hadn't done this; just something more to fret about which in reality might never have come to light during normal shooting. I hope that I will find a high-velocity load that shoots well in this gun and minimizes this concern.

As someone stated earlier, this might add to the idea that these guns suffer from droopy barrels. Consider that some owners are finding it difficult to sight in at all, and in my case I'm sighted but with very little margin for error in moving the POI upwards any further.

Don't sweat it; I started the de-rail, but it's my thread so it's all good.

I ordered my stock for the Chiappa from Tillsonburg Gun Shop; $135, I think? Hasn't even arrived yet, but I was thrilled with how a full-length stock turned my Henry Mare's Leg .44 from a novelty into an absolutely terrific little hunting rifle and I expect the same functionality from this one. :)

Thanks for heads up - stock on its way to me as we speak. Great service from Tillsonburg.

Have a little Leupold 1.5-5 to stick on it and with the new stock going to feel like an entirely different gun.

I came here eager for the NorthernRim, but leaving here with the ‘new gun feeling’ for a gun I already own. Hopefully will keep me satisfied while more reviews/feedback trickles in on these little Chinese monsters.

Interested to hear others experiences!

If someone that has one of these could take some time to post the targets/groups that would be a great help for me trying to decide if I want to buy one of these or not
I'm still waiting for Hunter Henderson to get some spare time.... :)

At this point I'm waiting on a bunch of consistent reviews good or bad... reviews so far are a bit all over the map.

went out this a.m. with this little one.
ran 200 cci sv and 50 blazer through it and when i was on,it was on.
preformed an extreme cleaning with brake cleaner and lucas clp afterwards.it was as all chinese rifles, extremely dirty!
i did some light filing here and there to smoothen out the bolt closing but noticed it did improve with use.
no problem with 1in groups @ 50yards;then moved to steel loonie/quarter sized spinners and had a blast.
personally i think it's a fun little rig but if you want smoother action and above average accuracy inexpensively.......savage fv sr would be the bet!

had no other scope on hand so i used this 6-24x

Thanks, what was the group size of the blazers averaging out at?
Not seeing the target was not an issue by the looks of it..... :)

the spread with blazers was noticeable but not too bad,i find it difficult to control as it is short and light i have the same issue with my carbon fiber ruger.the optic weighs more than the rifle.lol
the steel was a bit more misses as compared to the sv that never missed.
