Home Self Defence Suggestions

Start with a plan that enforces security in depth. Deter. Detect. Delay. Defend.

Make the house as unattractive to criminals as possible. Eliminate hiding spots around entries. Illuminate with auto sensors. Put up security signs. And a real mean dog.

This plays into detecting people. The lights are a great way to signal a light sleeper. As is a security system. Even a wifi system with alerts. Put one camera in front and one in back. If they pick up movement, the app will alert you.

But what if they still don't get the picture? You want to delay them as much as possible. Most criminals will actually come through the front or back door. Make it hard. Reinforce your strike plates, put security film on your door side glass. Unless your daughter is housing the Mona Lisa, criminals want low effort. Make it a workout.

Then there's defending...which is tricky here. So if I were writing a screenplay, I'd have a plan. A hard point to run to and defend. Door would get closed and locked. Again. Reinforce the door and have something to put in front. Call the cops. Now unless there are firearms on the other side, they'll be coming through that door limb by limb. Limbs don't like long sharp cutting tools or blunt objects. Things that are reasonable for a homeowner to have. When limbs stop working so do people.

Any scenario that ends up with a body or significant injury to another person will likely end up fighting it out in court, even just the threat of violence to a home intruder may end up with you being arrested.

The best you can do is make sure that you can prove you acted in good faith and in self defense. (Ensure you can identify your target clearly, issue a clear verbal warning and have a good lawer)
Why do we need to live like this. I paid my taxes, I should expect security was included

Well, if you vote Liberal, or did in the past???????????????????????????

Liberals love crime, as it helps them to peddle their rhetoric.

They have no intention to try to lower crime rates.

It's all part of their strategy to prove they are in total control of the plebes and make them believe they are protecting their interests/lives?

Straight out of Chairman Mao's Red Book.

Costco has a particularly good value solar charged, wireless LED security light that can be mounted up on any wall and that works well even in Canadian cold, well maybe short of the Arctic. Cost is very reasonable and they're always in stock in the warehouses, don't know about online. Because the ease of placement, another big virtue is that they will still operate during power failures.

Home Defense? What is that?!? If I didn't have a PAL, & lived Rural, I would image having Cross-bows {magazine fed one}, Umarex Air Javelin, & a Flamethrower would be 'FUN' to have around for some Father/Daughter bonding time, & as mentioned -Bear Spray for those un-wanted guests.

these posts are hilarious

If it is really a concern in your world then have a shotgun within easy reach and deal with the problem at the time !!!
this is just so funny

Leave your front door unlocked and your car keys and valuables by the front door so that home invaders do not have to kick in the door or harm you in order to steal your valuables. - Toronto Police Chief Demkiw.
I have a better idea Chief Demkiw, how about do your job? How about patrol the neighborhood's?

Ya WOKE mother-f@cker!..........:oops::ROFLMAO:

Unlike popular belief you can defend yourself by any means necessary if you believe your life is in danger! Have a good lawyer on speed dial and DO NOT TALK TO THE COPS EVER!!! Trust me I know cause I’ve been through it. Costs me some money but came out ok in the end. And yes I used a firearm in the process.

I'm glad to hear you are okay, and fought any bull-sh!t charges. I was born in Barrhead, and left there when I was 14. I know that Huff family, just not real well........

Acera Insurance sells protection for Canadian Firearm owners, specifically involving using self defense with a firearm. I recommend every gun owner in Canada to buy this insurance. It already has helped several gun owners who had to use deadly force in protecting their families from home invasion intruders.

Besides screens ,bars etc on windows and good locks on doors your first form of defence should be an alarm system that warns you that someone has entered your home.Nothing else matters if your asleep as they gain entry to your home .Second should be cameras that record any event especially if you choose to defend yourself as if things go sideways you would need proof that you defended yourself with in reason.Third how you defend yourself is up to you but if you cross the line you could end up with a costly legal battle and end up in jail yourself

I can recall a couple of case's where a gun owner was found not guilty of murder for defending themselves.
In both cases, they were being attacked by multiple intruders and backed into a corner. Under those circumstances, many would say"all bets are off"
