Don't buy from Tenda

Car dealers, quad dealers, snowmobile dealers, sis by side dealers, boat dealers and many other all do a PDI (pre-delivery inspection) on all there units before selling. Not the same as a gun (and I don’t think it would be practical for guns) but, you said NONE do and that is clearly not do.

I see the point you are trying to make but in this instance with a rifle that has an issue with the chamber the closest comparison would be if the car / quad / etc etc dealer pulled the cylinder head off the brand new vehicle to check for manufacturing defects in the bore.

Not going to happen.

That is a valid argument but lets think about that.

Do they inspect every single thing that they list for sale? Doing so would add extra time to each transaction and there has to be a cost for that (no such thing as a free lunch). It could also be argued that the manufacturer has (or should have) a QC process where such things were noticed / caught before they leave the factory.

While Tenda have a vested interest as a reseller in this instance almost certainly they would have no reason to check for this (on the inside of a chamber). If they handled the item poorly and caused damage that is a different issue but that is unlikely in this instance.

This rifle almost certainly left the factory with this issue and it should repaired under the manufacturer warranty which does not have anything to do with Tenda.

I purchased a Mark 7 press from Tenda a year or two ago and when it showed up it had damage. Most likely the item was inspected before it left Mark 7 and was fine. Somewhere between there and it getting to me it was handled poorly and had been damaged. Tricky one as the first leg of the journey would be Mark 7s liability and the second leg would be Tendas liability - which was it and how do you prove that?

In the end it didnt matter as both companies handled it great. Tenda reached out to Mark 7 who sent me brand new parts. I don't know who ate the cost but I ended up happy.
Thats the way it should be. Tenda should deal with the warranty claim not me and send me a new rifle with an apology. That would be good customer service.

Its a manufacturing defect. Send it in for warranty and stop complaining. Yes it sucks for sure but it will be taken care of. I've dealt with tenda numerous times and have never once had a problem.
You must work for them. I spend $1000 at the store I expect at least good customer service. They could take it back, deal with the warranty themselves, apologize for selling a defective product and send me a new one.

I don't work for them and have spent thousands there. Not their jobs to inspect each rifle. Yes it absolutely sucks, you're a newbie here and your first posts are complaining, suck it up and move on.

That burr should come out with a light touch of a 7mm-08 reamer. Maybe call your local gunsmith and ask if they can help.

Shipping to Gravel is expensive, and dealing with them is not pleasant at all.......:(

Save yourself some grief and just get it fixed. If you are very handy like some others suggested, this can be cleaned up with some care.

Quality control from many firearms manufactures have gone down hill somewhat. Remington, Ruger, Marlin, and Savage are few that come to mind. Tenda's responsibility ends once you receive the firearm....:(

I love the old school Remington rifles, however the new Rem-Arms models can be a crap shoot.....:(

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay? And what model is it? BDL, CDL, SPS, Varmint, ADL?
$899 sps

Brand new. Said because I fired it they wont take it back.
That's pretty standard.... most shops will let you inspect and then return at your cost if your just not happy but in your case with an obvious flaw most shops would likely cover the return shipping. Once fired it's usually a done deal other then warranty.

Ive been a member for 20 years and shooting/hunting for 30. Just my first bad experience.

They need to take a lesson for Vortex. Those guys know good customer service.

It should be a pretty easy fix, I guess one new lesson learned is it's worth inspecting a new gun yourself before firing it.
You would not even need a bore scope just good lighting and decent eye sight or a pair of classes to see that burr.

Borescopes are pretty cheap these days if you really want to inspect the barrel before christening the gun at the range and sealing the deal.

There are good gunsmiths in Ontario, do you know any?

Shooters choice is the closest. Im not sure if they are good or not or their turnaround time. If you know of any in sw Ontario im open to suggestions

Of course they do!........:ROFLMAO:

Vortex makes junk, and they know you will be using their warranty. Hence why Vortex are overpriced scopes......:(

That ship sailed when you fired it.

The difference in our experiences is that I inspected the item front to back as I unpacked it (I even took pictures of the box before I opened it) and when I found the damage I took more pictures (it was still in the box at this point).

I didn't load 1000 rounds and then reach out to Tenda to advise that there was damage from shipping.

I sympathize with your predicament but the devil is in the detail (ie if you don't play smart around their policies for such matters). I have found myself on the wrong side of these predicaments in the past and have evolved.

The SPS is an entry level rifle for sure, however that burr should never have missed the QC checks at the factory.

Probably some lazy Liberal doper just let it go through.......:(

Clean it up, sell it, and try to find an older made version that will be three times the quality....:)

Older made Remington's are very nice. The BDL and Classic models are beautiful. A 7mm-08 should be relatively easy to find....

If this were me I would reach out to a few local gun shops / smiths and see if anyone has a 7mm-08 reamer as it sounds like warranty might be a pain. Explain the issue and that it can most likely be fixed with a quick touch with the reamer. Heck you could even post here to see if someone has one.

It would take minimal time and effort when you find one (thats probably the hardest part).

You could also use many of the other non reamer ideas suggested thus far to correct this - your choice.

Warranty will for sure take longer (if it is even an option) and you run the risk of it being denied as the gun has been fired, it could be argued that the damage was caused by cleaning or something else that would not be covered under warranty (not saying that is what happened as I don't think it is but you give people an out and they will often take it).

I can't recommend any personally, but I'm sure others can.
I'd make a list and send them some pictures and see what they think? It's possible the burr can be removed by hand by someone with experience without using a sharp hand reamer which would be a more specialized tool and not necessarily something on hand.

Unless things have changed, here in Manitoba, the consumer protection acts makes the retailer responsible for honoring the warranty. If they refuse, they are obligated to refund you. Maybe check the BC consumer protection act.
