Brand New to Canada: SG-12 "SPAS"

To keep the mag spring retaining cup from shooting into the mag tube extension. There is a thin limiter inside the mag tube extension, but it doesn't rest against that plug, a spacer would keep it from popping loose.
My receiver is also getting slight scratches on one side from the stock, I seem to remember similar scratches on pictures of real Spas, as well as wear from the pump on the heat shield, so I kind of accept that as part of the package.
I used high heat loc tite on the choke, I'll never be changing that out and I don't want to lose it.

Yes to similar scratches on receiver sides of the original SPAS 12. And sadly yes…to some of the mechanical issues being seen here. It certainly gives the gun that iconic look to it though …
Got one last night. all the buttons and functions work well dry testing. No issues with anything hard to press. dry cycling is smooth. took it apart no heavy grease but power polished and thoroughly cleaned everything and put in some hopps. Filed off that one corner of the bolt that hits the inside of the receiver and added lock tite in a few spots. I plan to do real testing soon. tried holding with one arm using the hook, works but she a heavy sucker, hahahaha. I found after polishing the slide groves in the heat shield to a nice sheen, the forfend slides nicer
I think the QC on this gun is the core of the issue. Mine also seemingly avoided all the common issues that has plagued a lot of this production run. I guess only time will tell what issues I'll face, but I'm sorry to see everyone else having such a mixed bag of outcomes. We're starved for exciting options up here and it really feels predatory when a release misses the mark so hard.
I'm a TNW suomi survivor. Dealing with semi autos even the Benelli's and bushmaster i had to work on em to get them running smoothly and reliably. This seems on par with all brands i've dealt with to be honest. Some less some more but all require some work in my experience. Maybe one or 2 SKS's of the bunch where flawless.
T.I. claims they are generation 2.
The firearm is severely flawed but it still went up for sale because the 250-500% profit margins on this crap is a higher priority then actually solving the root problems.
Quality doesn't matter as long as it sells out instantly then you have your boost in capital so you can do the same thing over and over again.
Businesses preying on the desperate and acting like they are doing everyone a favor in the process really highlights arrogance and greed.
I want the market flooded with QUALITY FIREARMS instead of all of this pot metal caveman built bull#### we are expected to be so grateful for while we are in this crappy overall government situation.
If that gets me called a fudd, liberal, polytech supporter/ect oh well I'll wear that badge with pride.

It's been a while since I've seen where the RCMP put the old bulletins to businesses on their website, but the RCMP has, in the past, deemed mag extensions prohibited if the extension will increase the capacity of a semi-auto shotgun. IIRC it was for some Remington guns, and I think also some Benellis.
Edit: went looking, and the only bulletin I can find that's closest to this on web archives is Bulletin 86, which bans the X-RAIL device, as the RCMP considered it not to be 4 separate, linked magazines, but 1 complete magazine, but noted it was prohibited as it can be affixed to semi-auto shotguns. I do recall seeing another notice about mag tube extensions though, but it's not archived there.
For this to get around that, the metal rod would need to be permanently affixed to the cap, and the cap permanently affixed to the tube. As it stands now, since they can be disassembled, that likely means they are insufficient. If the rod can be readily removed and the gun reassembled, then that certainly cannot be considered "permanent." Additionally, as we know from the RCMP's ruling on AR mags, an unpinned mag body is still prohibited, hence why the cap needs to be permanently affixed to the tube.

Removable magazine-tube restrictions aren’t unusual on shotguns in Canada. As supplied, this one has the snap-ring-retained restriction, the existing magazine spring is reportedly too short to use the additional space, and there’s another restrictive device in the extension itself.
I understand the regulation you’re citing, but what establishes that this factory configuration is an over-capacity magazine that was subsequently altered or remanufactured and therefore requires permanent modification?
I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m just not seeing how we get from the regulation to “TI sold everyone a prohibited magazine.”
These laws are so nuanced that I can’t figure it out…
The Nordic mag ext kit is done the same way, nothing illegal about it.
He should put some red loctite on it like everyone else does.
