The Death of BRASS or ALLOY cases?

jethunter said:
Lol, you abruptly come to understand that the chances of brass cases going away anytime soon is close to zero. All it took was asking you to put your money where your mouth is.

Funny how often a little bet opens eyes and provides CLARITY of character.

MAYBE you have not gotten the gist after all and still like the whine.... no where have I said brass was not going to be around
Is that part of the phantom conspiracy?
or
the *meth-head* cartridge?

Then there's nothing for you to argue about is there? You do remember it was you who brought addictions into the conversation. Don't start what you can't finish. :)

Its all a built-in obsolescence masquerading as high-tech innovation.👍

You are aware the vast majority of shooters do not reload, nor do they salvage fired brass for scrap? your argument means nothing to most shooters. 🤷‍♂️

The military elite realized over 140 years ago what material science still says today:
iron alloys lack the natural elasticity and workability required to safely, consistently, and smoothly function as reloadable cartridge containers.

LOL. Dude, the military do not reload their fired cases. The argument the military don't use steel cases because they can't be reloaded is simply ridiculous. The military do not care one bit if a case is reloadable.

Bulk military surplus running at low pressures (like an old SKS shooting 7.62x39 at 45,000 PSI) is completely different from a modern high-performance hunting rifle running a violent 80000psi.

There is 308 Win and 223 Rem steel cased ammo available. Both those run in the 65,000 psi range. 🤷‍♂️

Federal is charging an astronomical $95+ CAD premium by pretending this is a space-age, reloadable breakthrough—not cheap Soviet surplus.

Well then you should definitely NOT buy that ammo. 🤷‍♂️ Just think of how much smarter you are than the average consumer. You have seen through the marketing hype and refuse to be sucked in to buying that carp. The less astute among us ought to bow down to your sheer savviness and dizzying intellect. :p

This may be news to you but the Federal Peak cases are not a personal insult directed at you. If you don't like the idea of that ammo, then just don't buy it. All this fussing and fuming is pointless.

ague🤣 again...on you

nobody said the military reloads.....
The point is that forcing un-reloaded hybrid designs onto the civilian consumer space destroys the handloading secondary market.

comparing 65,000 PSI standard cartridges to 80k–100k+ modern high-pressure proof loads is apples-to-oranges metallurgy.

AND to the *boy* who posted twice in three minutes just to say 'don't feed the troll'—the irony is OUTSTANDING.
you and jethunter are practically living on the refresh page, furiously mashing that **shiny button** over a simple question about heat displacement

keep the emotional rants coming, *boys*. The physics still haven't changed.

Yeah, i know. Feeding strays never works but this one was starving. He was going on about buttons for a bit. I was going to ask if the shiny buttons were steel or brass but let it pass out of kindness and concern for the poor thing.

Arguing for the sake of arguing lol...

Anyway, what metals is this alloy (+peak and 77mmBC) made of? Did not feel the need to google it : )

FEDERAL is being coy about their nickel plated space age alloy recipe.
It will come out. And my bet it is no better then ATSM steel.
exotics drive the price to high and if military is going to use it it has to be easy and cheap to make.
A Spectrometry test will of
SEM-EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy)
will tell what the case is to the micron.

And why they will cook barrels faster....
heat transfer is faster in softer metals.
Harder the metal the more it is heat resistant ( insulator to a certain point then holds the heat longer).
only place for it to go in that split second is down the barrel.
