The IWI Carmel: Initial Thoughts and Observations **Range Report added on post #48**

Got my good today and took it to the range. Went thru 100 Rounds  it bangs

Is there any aftermarket handguard available?
I’ve seen a few for sale in the States but nothing here so far that I’ve been able to find. I like the stubby grip on mine but I’d gladly swap out the aluminum handguard for a lighter-weight polymer one.

Can we get some more accuracy tests? I don’t know if I blame the shooter or the gun but they seem to shoot no better than I can with an SKS + bulk ammo via irons

I believe it has a skinny barrel like the Tavor but unlike the Tavor it is free floated (which should help)?

The Tavor is a great gun with many good features but never had the best accuracy from my experience.

Tavon is a great gun…just don’t expect it to be a match rifle, it’s a hit it’s target rifle, and the Carmel is the same.

With mine, an X95, off my elbows with an 4x ACOG I could keep three, 10 round magazines into 6” at 200 yards with bulk M193, PMC…shooting “rapid”.

Off a rest with bulk M193, PMC I could keep 10 rounds into 2.5-3” at 100 yards….one or two of those rounds would open up an 1.5” group average into said 2.5”-3”…always had a few “fliers”. Gun would shoot fine until about 50 rounds, going very rapid then it’s open up a lot past 100 yards but it also cooled down fast.

The Carmel is shooting, by most reviews, 3”-5” 100 yard groups with GOOD ammo…so hopefully it’s the shooters, not the gun!
