Please, premit me to speak freely for a moment.

(I'm sorry Billy, I couldn't resist that one!)

You need to apply for an ATT. "Authorization to Transport". This is required for restricted firearms.

also Billy usually before they give you your ATT you should become a member of a club, and then fill in the paper work.I think the forms they are going to send you are for your ATT.....There is going to be a question asking about what club you belong to....they usually ask for a photo copy of your club membership.I think you will need a temporary ATT from the shop to your residence, then another from your residence to your gun club.

Does it ever occur to you guys who criticize peoples posts, that English is probably not their mother tongue ???? I mean, not everyone who has poor English written skills is some so called back woods boy with no education.

Maybe because I live in Quebec and I am used to seeing people do their best to translate text, that I am not quick to jump on the criticize band wagon, but come on guys, give the guy a break. Out of seven replies, 2 are insulting the guy.

Possibly because I had a sh!tty day today this is bugging me more than it should, but I have read too many threads where guys just insult someones post because of their poor English skills, without ever taking into consideration that English may not be their mother tongue.

X2 ..... Seems pretty obvious to me that 1: the guy's main language is French, and he's doing his best to be understood by anglos, which doesn't come naturally to many of us Frenchies. 2: The guy just bought a new handgun, which is still at the store, and he was denied an ATT to take it home because he isn't a member of a club (Quebec rules) and it turned into an argument with the not-so-nice CFC/CFO lady..

Are you really retarded, or was this a joke?

As a former high level handicapped athlete, whom actually had a shot at the Canadian paralympics team (long story short, I retired from the game, wheelchair basketball, before the tryouts that year, and have never touched a basketball again), I take pretty serious offense to that statement.

Thank you, I understand that. you said that very clearly. this saturday I will join a gun club as soon as possible. Hopfully the forms are easy to do.

Hi Rob, actually I'm a Chinese person, but good guess. I don't like English people too much, you see I was born in Hong Kong, and the English people there are not very nice. They always talk with their nose very high, and looking at you with their nose very high. It is okay I understand.

I'm a special olympic athlete, but I never made it to the provincial games :(, I'm sorry to hear that you no longer an athlete for the paralympic team.

I never did make it to the Team, I made it on to the Junior Provincial team in '95, and had my ticket in hand for the '95 Canada games which I believe were held in Banff, AB which would have pretty much been my ticket for the paralympics tryouts, I ended up giving it all up. Can't say I regret it much, some of those injuries I sustained while an active player will never heal (fingers are all crooked and hurt to this day). Mind you I can still pull a trigger and enjoy the odd friendly milsurp competition.

OK ,based on your vancouver olympic member link you posted the rules the cfo makes for British columbia residents are

1) You need to have a membership in a shooting club(there are several near vancouver, one of the locals can give you better advice on which one is better to join than me.)

2) You need to apply for a long term ATT(Authorization To Transport)(to get this you need to belong to that club first. These are the ATT application papers she is sending to you.
You can mail them in or fax them(fax is faster)

When filling out the form include; name, address, PAL #, phone #, name of range that you will primarily be shooting at, sign and date it and leave the rest of the form blank.Include a photocopy of your membership card.

3) Once they have issued your ATT they will then transfer the handgun to your name and also send you a short term ATT to give you permision to take the handgun to your home from the store.

4) Right now they have put your handgun transfer on hold until you get the long term ATT forms done.
Ps sounds like you have been hanging out with the wrong white dudes:wave:

I realize that, but there's still one hell of a margin between someone mentioning that he/she may be soon competing in the "special olympics" and calling someone a "retard" by default ....

Mind you, I'm still pissed off to no end that we can't be recognized as full blown athletes and have to compete in "special" olympics which are generally held when all the fun is over and everybody has left rather than to be let loose in the general athlete population. It's part of the reason why I gave it all up, sheer disgust...

I see you live in Alberta, tell you what, I'll provide the chair and ball and you and I go 1 on 1 (I'll even pay for my own air fare from Quebec), let's see how hard it is to live without functioning legs for a friendly game. My buddies Kevin and Peter macGregor are somewhere around Edmonton at this time, I went out and trained with these guys back in '91 and again in '92 .... Last I heard Peter was in pretty bad shape and fighting for his life ... If anyone knows these "Northern Lights" players, please let me know, I've been looking around for these guys for years. Last I heard from the Lights was back in 96 (or was in 97 ? I forget) when they showed up for a major tournament in Montreal, Defi Sportif des Athletes Handicapes, (I was MVP in said tournament back in '92). I wasn't competing anymore, but I still went out and watched my old buddies play.

Rob, it was an honest question. I guess i am just too Albertan to know the full PC dialect.

I don't know swifty...I re-read some of his other posts and noted inconsistencies within the same string, beyond simple tense. It's as if it's being purposely written that way.

I call bulls**t on this character.

You can check me out all you want, be my guest ... my name's Robert Smith plenty of gunnutz know me personally.

Ok back to billys' question.

yeah the form is for your ATT (authorization to transport) without it you'll do jail time if you get cought with your pistol outside your house. You can actually get the form online at the CFC. When you get the forms make sure you are a member of a club. Put on the forms that you are target shooting. Personal protection will only get your account red flagged. They list a bunch of #### but really they only count 2 things as legit to auth your ATT. Don't get into details, they don't care, target or competition. You also need to bring your ATT with you every time you take your pistol to the range.

I can't believe you guys are letting this all slide.....I guess it's OK to slam whitey...but throw the word "slope" in a post directed at an asian member and you get a time-out.

Interesting.....

wow, chill out people

I'm just here to talk about firearms, don't give me a western education christ. If I wanted to learn English I would be in school, not here on this forum where every white trash thinks they know something about proper English.

.....any honky tonk here can put their English pride aside for a second, and explain to me what is this form?

I'm a Chinese person, but good guess. I don't like English people too much,.....

Well Billy...Just for the record...and I mean this in the nicest possible way:
I have never, in my entire life degraded anyone asian....in fact, I almost married an Asian girl. Anyway:

1. I don't appreciate the "white trash" comment any more than you would appreciate being called a "chink"

2.You using the term "Honky" is exactly the same as a white guy saying "slope". Is it ok for you to be racist because you are not white?

3.If you "Don't like english people", I'm curious why you'd move to a country that is made up of them.....

Seriously, your post has kinda pissed me off.

Actually I live in a Chinese community, and second of all I was taught by a Chinese firearm instructor http://www.smartlock.com/pal.htm after learning about firearms from him, I was interested in this sport.

Many posts written by people of your race piss me off as well. So therefore I have to say I feel the same way.

Yes this information is repeated three times or so thank you. Once again I want to say the person who phoned me in the atfernoon was very rude. Anyways I understand what it is about, and what is the form I will get in mail.

I'm sorry to hear that you given up on such a good opportunity. I can't believe why you wouldn't have gave it a try. you know a lot of people in the special olympic, like myself wants to get into the special olympic provincial games(and I don't mean national, just provincial)

Just the provincial's and I couldn't make it.
