Broken Tavor and XCR

I hate to double post, but what the heck is an E-Clip? I've looked on the web and can't find reference to it.

ArmedSask: What serial number was your XCR? Please post pics of the wear and tear.

Maybe you just have a dud gun. Any product line will have a few defect items once in awhile. I can honestly say I've had no problems as of yet with mine, and any questions I had, Robarm replied to by phone.

Let's just say armedsask is just lucky he's the only one that got both XCR and tavor that self-destruct themselves :bangHead: Time for a lotery ticket !

I'm curious about the XCR damage too, my own eject port has brass rubs but isn't stripped all around to bare metal, pins are strong and the wierdest is the bolt stop... I'd like to see how it is bent, there is something really wrong here.

Is there anyone else here other than armedsask with a crap XCR? It could be the exception. I haven't shot mine enough to really pass judgment but it ate the first 300-400 rounds without a problem and still looks new.

Armedsask : I don;t understand your problems with the XCR. I 've had one failure, a broken firing pin at about 400 rounds. I put this info out on this forum. I now have 1100 rounds through my US spec 16 inch light barrel XCR . My serial # range is below 700. Robarms replaced my entire bolt. I bought 3 extra firing pins for my rifle bag. Have not had a problem since. No wear , no finish wear, no other problems at all. I have shot two three gun events with it and one carbine combat event with it. My trigger has worn in and is now very predictable and smooth. A good two stage trigger imho.

This late summer I will attend an advanced combat carbine course in which I'll use 800 rounds in 8 hours. That will be the test! No time for cleaning, just running your gear and yourself very , very hard. At least 50 % of the particpants have problems with their rigs and gear. The course is designed to induce problems and learn how you deal with them. That will be the test. With the price of ammo and availability of 5.56 in the States , this class is going to be very expensive. The class allows and encourages all to bring a back up rifle. My back up will be an AK clone in 7.62X39.My side arm will be a Glock .40. So, armedsask , will see if the XCR has what it takes becase gauranteed , they 'll be a lot of broken guns that day- -----mostly AR's since that what most of the folks use.

I think we need some clarification on the XCR and my hate for it. The majority of my hate does not come from use of the rifle at all. My hate comes from stripping it down and looking at it from a basic design perspective. I looked it over a lot and spent a lot of that time saying, "Why the hell would you do it like that? that just seems lazy.". It's just seems hokey as hell. Corners were cut. Spring clips holding in key parts always bothered me. Low and behold one broke after 40 rounds.

If your XCR works, more power to you. I'm glad you are happy with it. This one worked, for a bit, and we were not entirely dissatisfied by it. However, when a key functioning part is retained by a cheap pin, and said cheap pin disables the firearm, I'm not happy. Then you look at all the other stuff and it just builds, adds to the pile of dislikes. Soon the dislikes out weigh the likes.

I'll get some pictures of the bolt stop, it is beat to hell. Robarm claims that is normal, same with the pin coming out. I've never seen an AR15 bolt catch look so beat up, especially not after 40 rounds.

I'd be interested to know what you think of the Norc Type 97.
