2008 IPSC Nationals Website Link

Double Tap Sports

for those of you who haven't yet checked we have had a very good response from different dealers. i am going to ake up a bunch of band width here to reconize them.

First off i would like to reconize Josko at Double Tap Sports for stepping up and being our Match Sponsor this year.

THANK YOU

Westjet= I got a flight with the help of John S....$841 taxes and fees in round trip. That is $200 less than what it normally costs

Divisional Sponsors. First off is Sean at Freedom Ventures. He took on two Divisional Sponsorship, Open and Standard. Sean has always been a strong supporter of Nationals and has come through again.

Also stepping up to a divisional Sponsorship is Para Ordnance. They will be the Sponsor for Production. Thanks George.

Sean is one of a bunch of hard working IPSC loyalists from NS. THey put on matches all the time and ask nothing in return. I usually travel 2 -3 hrs to shoot a match coming from NB,...it is always worth the trip.

Att

For anyone in Canada looking for an ATT contact your CFO. i sent a FAX to all of the CFO's giving them the information for the nationals and a request to use that as an authorizing letter for any IPSC Canada member in good standing. i have been told by ontarions that it is working for them. anyone having a problem please contact me at walter.hornby@gmail.com.

having a problem,...no Fax recieved from Tracy at the NB CFO....if the fax was sent to Brian Doyle,...well,...it is best to send it to Tracy at 506-457-3521 (FAX)

her email is tracy.miles@cfc-cafc.gc.ca
her phone number is 506-453-3775

Anyone flying in ...Westjet is having a seat sale right now....
Just in case anyone out there doesn't know this; I found out yesterday that West Jet will NOT take hand loads. Factory ammo only. I couldn't find this info on their web site, but spoke to someone in customer service just to be sure everything was ok for my ATT. Good thing I checked, but I probably shouldn't have snipped at her....

So anyone flying on West Jet, take heed.

Oh, and Walter your fax must have worked. I had my ATT faxed to me within an hour and a confirmation number given to me on the phone. First time that's ever happened. So thanks for that!

I have run into this in the past. Just put your handloads into factory boxes. You will not have a problem then. Also they take up less room in your case.

I am shipping 200rds,..getting some at the match,..and take some with me n Canadian BDX boxes.

Yeah, but if I had not known of this and was asked when I checked in if I was transporting hand loads or factory ammo, I might not have twigged to the trap and declared hand loads.

I'm shipping ammo anyway, but was thinking of bringing some back-up stuff. Not now.

It may not be Westjet. When last I read them, CATSA regs required ammo to be shipped in the 'manufacturers boxes'.

I have always stated that I am the manufacturer if asked and it hasn't been a problem. However they have a fairly broad hand to interpret the rules and I have been handled differently depending on the airport, CATSA employee, time of day etc...

I'm really regretting that I can't make Nationals this year. Why do friends ruin long weekends with trivial things like weddings?

It's on their website. Go to FAQ under Contact US and search firearms.
Their whole policy is there. Worth printing and carrying with in case you get a desk worker confused about the policy.

RE: Packaging, it's an IATA (International Air Transport Association) rule for manufacturer's boxes or "equivalent", the same bunch of people who brought you "5KG max ammo".

DOH! I suppose I could have just cut and pasted it for you folks...

Question:
What is WestJet's firearms acceptance?

Answer:

the firearm is UNLOADED.

gun case that can not be seen through and cannot easily break open
during transport.

- A trigger lock must be in place on the firearm.

- A Firearms License (FAL) is not required at this time for any

- WestJet personnel will NOT conduct an inspection to confirm the

Limited Liability Release form must also be completed.

RIFLE. Will count as one item of checked luggage. “One item” is

four (4) rifles (with or without scopes), two (2) shooting nets,

on WestJet.

is defined is defined as UP TO FOUR (4) transported in ONE locked

PACKAGING GUIDELINES: AMMUNITION:

- Ammunition intended for sport or hunting must be carried in sturdy

- Ammunition must be packaged in the manufacturer's original
container, or an equivalent sturdy, durable container that
provides sufficient cartridge separation.

- Self loaded, home-made or hand loaded ammunition is NOT acceptable
for transport as the gunpowder contents have been altered or
changed.

WestJet.

*PLEASE NOTE: WestJet will accept firearms for transport on scheduled transborder and charter flights,
but they must be packaged and transported in accordance with our firearms acceptance guidelines. In addition, guests should be aware that the restrictions surrounding the importation of firearms vary greatly from country to country, and it is the guest's responsibility to ensure that all necessary permissions, documentation and other requirements have been obtained or satisfied, prior to travelling. WestJet can offer no guidance on the rules around a particular country's acceptance policy, and accepts no liability in the event a guests' weapon is
not allowed entry, or is confiscated upon entry.

I have always stated that I am the manufacturer if asked and it hasn't been a problem. However they have a fairly broad hand to interpret the rules and I have been handled differently depending on the airport, CATSA employee, time of day etc...

From the web site (Thanks Sean. You really had to mine for that info).

- Ammunition must be packaged in the manufacturer's original
container, or an equivalent sturdy, durable container that
provides sufficient cartridge separation.

- Self loaded, home-made or hand loaded ammunition is NOT acceptable
for transport as the gunpowder contents have been altered or
changed.

So I wouldn't tell them you are the manufacturer based on this.

I got off the phone with Westjet customer service,..and noted in my file that I will be checking in a firearm,...and also ammunition manufactured by Combat Masters/Canadian BDX, and that some will be in vacuum sealed packages......and the technical guy on the phone said he would note in the file that the ammo is factory Combat masters ammunition, and some would be in vacuum sealed plastic wrapping,..placed in a plastic gun case.
Might help avoid confusion..maybe as Moncton does not have a whole lot of guys going thru with guns and ammo!
