Tavor VS Type 97??

Have they considered competitors using BOTH rifles and compiling total scores? Best shooter will get bragging rights and we can have

I agree that the rifles should be stock with identical optics for standardized baseline.

Logic is based on each competitor shooting to the best of their ability with each rifle, which should minimize the effect of varying skill levels.

Excuse my ignorance, but what ammo does the Norco prefer, not sure what the specifics of the barrel are but if it can take 77g HPBT then both should produce some nice tight groups.

Norc is a 1:7 twist barrel so it should like the heavy stuff as well.

Given the price of the 97 I would be happy if it's even in the same ballpark as the Tavor.

Dave

I think that's what this test will prove. At the very least it will prove that the Norc with very few mods will run with a tavor and still be much less expensive...I hope. I'm sure the Tavor Goofs (as I affectionately call them) will have their Tavors modded up as well. I'm just glad they aren't doing any mag change drills etc...cause the norc would run far behind the tavor as the aftermarket parts to correct it's shotcomings aren't out yet.

Then one will not be optic challenged.
Bwahahahaha :D

Just to prove Lector is an a**hole sometimes.

Do you actually realize how much of a deterrent this is? How can you come with such conditions? Why risk losing a rifle because of a competition? You make me hate you.
Me being as arsehole is not a secret.
But: shooting for pleasure or for attention-whorring is one thing,
and shooting in a challenge-type competition is another.
There are risks, yes, (including for myself),
and costs and investments, etc
but nobody should feel obliged to subscribe
to this kind of competition.

And, excuse me for reminding you this, but it started
by you posting "nyah nyah nyah Lector shot this target"
and you want it to end by me unconditionally signing
to any rules for this competition I'm being dragged in? ha...

Now why is it necessarry to shoot so many rounds? This will put undue pressure on the competitors. You and your ideas about how to "prove" a rifle:rolleyes:
So is it a better method to choose the best 2 groups out of 10?

The other team will likely have 5-6 members,
which gives 40 groups (or less) of 5 shots each for every member.
I think everybody should be able to shoot that for breakfast
without any pressure.

I vote for Team Lecta.

Thank you, Maître Dequart.
I knew I could count on you.
Like always, you are my preferred poster in this thread.

There is no "Team Lecta", though. Merely a "team" 97.
Just me and a lifelong friend, the guy who developed the ammo
and my partner in this kind of shooting.
We have shot many competitions
against each other (but mostly using the same rifle)
or in the same team.
He decided not to shoot this time,
although he is way more versed than me in this kind of games.
We also consider a prospect member,
a promising young blood shooter.

We are still waiting for the answer from team Tavor. I hope they don't have second thoughts about this,

The gentlemen from team Tavor offer me and few other people a demo with their gun. Lector didn’t attend b/c he was out of town for a few days. I have had few shots with this Tavor and i can say that is more enjoyable to shoot than the straight out of the box rifle. It has a quick detach bipod, the scope has 24 magnification and the trigger is a big improvement over the factory one. I shot few shots but not enough to draw definite conclusions. I wish i still had my Tavor and shoot them side by side so i can truly assess the mods.

Even if he couldn’t come to see the Tavor, Dr Lector, in return, offered the Tavor team an open house on the 97 so they can see it what it's about and have few shots with it before the contest. There were 11 potential shooters from the initial 2 Tavor teams (the shooting team will be selected from them) and half a dozen other people lector called.
Ted, Lector’s friend, offered lots of ammo, mags and a automated mag reloading machine so anybody could shoot as much as they pleased. It was kind of a shooting fest with the 97 and everybody enjoyed it.
I was not invited :( but I showed up anyway (that being said, I should have been called, at least for the fact that I started this competition). As soon as I came, Lector threw me on a shooting bench, put me in an arm-bar and confiscated my two cameras
There were some discussions between dr Kevorkian and the Tavor guys about this competition, but I wasn’t told any details about it.
Now everybody still waits for the signal from the guys in the Tavor team. I hope it's still on.

Thanks for the update 22 Short. I wish you had been able to snap some covert pictures:cool: You should have tried to snap some pics from a distance...Dr. Lector Paparazzi! I sure would like to know if this contest is still on and I hope the results are posted here for all to see!

I have shot the Tavor and the Norc 97 both out of the box and not modified. I consider the Tavor a better gun but with a lesser trigger. Because of that, I have no doubt the Norc can shoot better groups at 100 yards, with or without Lector. I wish it was otherwise since I hate anything that comes out of china.

I have seen the said Dr. Lector about two weeks ago on a range outside Lower Mainland. He had a Norinco 97 and some other fancy guns. Some of them were bullpups I didn't see before. He was with a bunch of euro-trash mid age and older who were taking all his guns apart in a frenzy and they were very excited and captivated in their discussions. They have shot some of the guns but I somehow don't think those were the guys that will shoot the Tavor in the competition.

Hmmm....Kaiser Sose? Lector hangs with Euro Trash? 12 posts in 2 years?

The plot thickens...
I'm sorry, I don't follow. What am I accused of here? And what is wrong with my post count? I just said my opinion about the guns in the competition. As for those people, by their accent, manners and looks, they fit the definition of euro-trash, yeah...

You misunderstood my lame attempt at humor:redface:. The character Kaiser Sose was a man of mystery and myth and you come out on no where and post about Lector and his buddies. I think Deckard got it....

LOL!
They were some of his friends he invited to do some leisure shooting and a spin with some cool guns. Not all of them were his guns.
I think they may look and act like Euro Trash, but you will be surprised if i tell you those guys are some kickass designers and test enginers with FN Herstal in Belgium and with Bofors from Sweden. I briefly met few of them too and I can say they are very nice people, even if they talk with an accent or look funny.
Euro Trash LOL:D

Sure...
The usual suspects:
Deckard, 22Short_Imp, Clobbersauras...
Kaiser Sose, I didn't see you for a while,
probably you are too busy bashing immigrants...:D

Updates....any news Lector or 22 short?
As far as I'm concerned, I am still waiting.

...........
You just answered your own concern as to
why you were not invited. Just kidding :D

Anyway, you are saying this like you talk about a robbery
When you went home, you had your stupid cameras, didn't you?
Poor guy... Does your shoulder still hurt? :D
Drink some beer and the pain will go away :D

As for you being the starter of this competition,
you are rather a sh!t-starter, generally speaking,
or as far as I am concerned.
First the 10/22 bullpup you put me through,
after that you start fights with Clobbersauras
in his other thread,
and now this sh!t...

The gentlemen from team Tavor offer me and few other people a demo with their gun..........
........ the scope has 24 magnification...........
I wish I was there...
I hope they don't use the scope rail with adjustable height,
that would be weird...

I missed your post lector - any more updates?

I found your posts in the M4 thread very interesting....

I find your incessant teasing of Deckard even more interesting:D

The new sig line pic that Dekard has is the Eagle Trasnporter space ship from the Series "Space 1999".....:)
