With the price of gas hovering around $1.50 here in the flatlands, I was wondering how it will affect everyone's hunting habits. I went on a goose shoot up in Riverton yesterday and it cost me over $60 in fuel alone for 5 geese. It's not that I mind spending the money, but I think I'll be hunting locally a lot more and maximizing my hunting dollar. How about you?

The pick up has been parked in the yard for over a year. I take the car everywhere now. This is going to be the first year I really plan on shooting a few deer while not having a truck to haul. The ride back home through town should be fun.

These gas prices hurt!

My annual moose adventure up North have been sh.it-canned, and I am staying in the local area. I have also re-evaluated my truck purchase, leaning more towards a quad and trailer that I can pull behind my van.

Hakx

Yup, my truck is gonna be parked I think. Gonna look awful funny with a moose strapped on the roof of my ford focus all the same. Legs hanging down over the windows........Tires nearly flat..........oh well, thats gonna be a lot more common in the near future.

I have a good 3500 km moose hunting trip ahead of me, leaving tomorrow.
Gas prices make me sick.
Do people in Saudi Arabia pay more for gas because of Ike?
No? Why not?
It effected gas prices in Canada even BEFORE the storm hit.
BS!

Our annual elk hunting trip is 1800km round trip and at least 200km per day for a week. The price of gas will not effect this hunt at all.If I can afford the guns, optics clothing, and gas and ammunition to practice all year, the extra $300 or so in fuel would not make me change my hunting plans.
However,I did buy a car two years ago to cut my fuel consumption in half for my everyday driving. Now the truck only gets driven to tow the boat.haul,go hunting,or when I need four wheel drive.

Nope, I'm still going for moose and deer. Though it helps when you can split gas with others. Worry about it later, you could be 6 feet under next year. ;)

Gas prices are definitely a factor. I just have to hunt near home as the extra cash just isn't there not too mention crap loads of other commitments getting in the way. I've got a family to consider first and that big oil boom money has no affect on my take home pay.

That said I will be putting a lot of miles on my boots though.:)

Just find a job that pays more money, I did, just got a job on CP rail as a conducter, should be able to afford gas now seeing my wage will double or triple in the next number of years.

Cheers!!
