Russian SKS45 long thread.

Well, as I mentioned earlier, if that container of SKS's was loaded, and stuck somewhere between here and there, someone has to pay the rental charge on that container, and possibly (depending where it is) storage fees. So do not be surprised if these SKS's up in price also.

hey G , i think marlin said these 100 sks45 were sent thru the post office , as we all know by post can cost a small fortune .

If he is willing to haul 1000 pounds of rifles across the country and spend 4 of his days transfering and packaging them, and on his way home he brings them to the post office on his dime,

I think the original shipment willl get here!
I have waited almost a year now so I figure
whats another 8-10 weeks.
I already paid for mine too! So if I do decide to cancel I'll just buy something else from frontier!!!

I've kinda accepted the original shipment won't ever get here.

im a believer it will get here , this small shipment proves it can get here without any problem , if i have to , im will to pay extra to have them flown over .

btw : i ordered thru SIR .

I asked Marlin what the chances are of his original order actually coming...
He said, and I quote: "Right now my guess is 50/50."
I'm not gonna cancel my SIR order, but I've lost all hope. lol. Ah well.

I ordered one of the new ones from Frontier. If it is anything close to "very good" condition, I will be a very happy man! Should my SIR one arrive later, I will be even happier! At $265 tax and shipping included, me really thinks it is a good deal.

Considering the fact that the original shipment probably hasn't even left the Ukraine yet, I am pretty convinced either they are never going to leave the Ukraine, or they never existed in the first place.

Either way, I broke down and ordered one of the new 100's

And a case of ammo...

And then another case of ammo...

As my VISA gently weeps....

I just have to ask.

These rifles will obviously have magazines that are restricted to 5 rounds. My question is: how will these mags be restricted? Pinned? have a block welded in?

It would obviously have to be in a way that doesn't hinder the ability to unload the mag by opening it up.

Probably the same way most SKSs mags are modded; a stud that projects from the bottom of the mag that keeps the follower from depressing all the way. On both of mine (Chinese), the mod actually looks factory and it hard to notice, but it may be more obvious on the Russians.

I'm really hoping we'll be able to get rid of the mag size law when the Harper government goes majority.

Harper: I make you a promise, if you remove mag limits, take most of the rifles off of that inane restricted list (who want's an AR without the headache?), and maybe work towards making handguns non restricted.

I will bake you a cake. Any kind you want.

One of these days, I'll get a phone call from Cabelas, and they'll be saying to come and pick one out. And there will be much rejoicing!

Grouse Man....that's the spirit! I too hope for that call. I'll keep mine on order and will remain optimistic that we'll see them.:)
