Cool videos, head/helmet cam views are also interesting. I don't mean to pick but I noticed a couple issues with regards to handling. In the "rifle stage 3" video the shooter reloads then attempts to shoot without cycling the action which costs him several seconds. The remedial action taken was simply cycling the charge handle when it should have been tap rack. In "rifle stage two" video the shooter reloads the rifle fires one round before experiencing a failure. Again, the remedial action is to cycle the action which costs the shooter several seconds due to an improperly seated magazine. The second attempt to fix the issue included the tap rack which solved the problem. Little things like remedial action drills and consistent handling methods will save you time..

Those errors are why we had the discussion about the 10 round mags and forward bolts.

You can run IAs all day long........if it does not fit it does not fit.

I am still trying to figure that one out. I had an extra 5 rounder that I took the follower out of, shaved a few thou off with the belt sander. It works great, except it now holds eleven rounds, not good from a legal standpoint. Not sure what the answer is here, except running with 9 rounds in your additional mags. BTW, before someone gets their knickers in a knot, the follower is out of the mag, and now resides on my work bench as a novelty piece.:D

I have tried some drills with topped up mags, but with my AR, I have to really put the boots to the mag to get it to seat. Sooner or later, I am going to have a mag that busts apart completely, from the force necessary to seat it properly.

It shouldn't have been a problem on the one stage, 4 targets, 2 rounds each. But someone thought it would be a good idea to have a mandatory reload, before the last round was fired:rolleyes: Didn't matter, cause somehow I zeroed the stage anyways:eek:

Pooh. Sounds like someone didn't check their gear prior to the shoot. I guess the 10 round mags aren't such an advantage after all.;)

Maybe that is yet ANOTHER reason...LOL!

Of course I knew about the problem so I always made sure to plan my reloads accordingly.

I just got the AR recently, I had it to the range to make sure everything was good to go. Tried 50 or so rounds through each mag, everything worked great. Of course I didn't have the presence of mind to try inserting a mag with the bolt forward, being that I was trying to be safety conscience at the range.

What amazes me the most, is that a supposed friend didn't warn me about such a problem existing. Gamer. LOL:D

I don't see how loading a magazine with a round chambered is a safety issue?

Well, it's not a safety issue if you are in control of the firearm, but when you leave it on a bench, to go to another bench beside with the spotting scope set up, I tend to want to have it unloaded. Get it.

And while I am at it, why does it seem, that every thread you post on, you have to have some negative, or snide remark to make?

My next question is, how far away is the next bench with the spotting scope? More importantly, why are you shooting from the bench? If you aren't zeroing the rifle, it doesn't belong on the bench. Does your range have an issue with slinging loaded firearms?

As far as "negative or snide remarks" I have a hard time understanding why so many are terrified when handling firearms, and choose to exercise poor or illogical handling habits as a result.

Wholly crap dude:eek: Did I say I was shooting off the bench? I don't have a sling on my AR, I really don't see a need for it, it should be in your hands if your using it, no?

Who said anything about being terrified? Reading comprehension skills need a little work I think. So setting a firearm down with the bolt open and safety engaged in now "poor or illogical handling habits", think about it. So you would leave a loaded firearm on a bench while other people are using the range around you? Even if there is no one immediately present, someone else.......ah never mind, obviously you know more about gun safety than i do!

Nice Vids! Barrie is such a nice gun club with those huge berms and grass surfaces.

Heads up - though, start placing rifle targets out farther if you're going to shoot the three gun sidematch at the nationals next year.
Jimmy doesn't believe in rifle targets closer than 50m. Storm knows what I'm talkin' about... :D
