Is there a need for more Cdn made AR parts?

I think the AR has way more market than Swiss Arms.

It definately does...price is the deciding factor there. You can go spend 3Gs on a Swiss rifle or $1200ish on a run of the mill AR. Obviously the AR is more appealing to the beginner/monetarily challanged black rifle shooter. Not to mention the potential for upgrades which is almost non-existent in the SIG line.

and setting up of the jigs, making sure everything is zeroed right, running a test run, QCing it. not just a quick slap a block in and machine it.

THAT is an understatement, glad someone else has an idea of what is really involved.

As for making lowers for Sigs, not likely to happen, the time alone to make a program and then make up fixtures would negate any possible profit unless there was a large order placed, which I think is very unlikely to happen.
The Sig rifles just do not have the volume of ownership to warrant getting into a lower making venture.
AR10 lowers may be something we look at in the not too distant future, but lets get the AR15 lowers into production before we get swept away making more cool kit.:D

With the recent B.S. going on in Ottawa with Harper and the 3 traitors, and knowing that the 3 traitors plan to make Canadian domination easier by banning many firearms.
Knowing that in the past rather than banning and confiscating in most cases, the government of the day elects to grandfather people who have the "bad gun of the day".
My question in this.
Is it worth my time to start to produce AR15 lowers and other assorted parts.
I have good access to 7075 billet aluminum, I have the 4 axis CNC milling machine and the programs are all written.
I could therefore have stripped 100% finished lowers available in very short order, as in BEFORE Jan 26th.
These would be mil spec lowers, but made of stronger 7075 aluminum, mil spec anodized and ready for assembly. The only other change would be that I would like to incorporate a rear pin tensioner to avoid any need for the Accuwedge crap.
Costing about $400.00

What say thee?? Am I wasting my time?

I'm a buyer! If you build it, I will come!

Just like the lowers you are making, if you were to make a AR/mag Sig lower people would step up and put their money down.

There are lots of Swiss arms allready around.

I too will step up to the plate for AR10 lower(s).

Let me know what deposit you need, I will pay and will probably take 2!!

Yes I'd be in for an AR10 lower. But it would need to have a very accurate upper as well :D. The AR10 is like an addiction for me.

AR10's would be interesting - but I may suggest using the SR-25/DPMS .308s as a guide instead.

Magpul will be releasing a SR25 mag soon, which does not work with the AR10

Interesting.
I had figured something compatable with the DPMS LR308 upper as I have good access to them. Apparently I need to learn more about the variants. As always any help is welcomed.

Also just to keep this in perspective, this is DOWN the road a bit, just gathering intel at the moment.

Not really knowing much about the AR10 platform, but I thought the DPMS pattern was more, let's say finiky, than the Armalite pattern ??

I heard more like $20

Magpul has never been about gouging people...

It's got nothing to do with Magpul. $14 AR15 PMag in the US = $45 AR15 PMag in Canada.

So I would imagine that an AR10 PMag that sells for $20 in the US would go for $50 minimum in Canada.

if someone could LEGALLY import them and plug them on this side of the border the price would be cheaper, problem is 90% of the pmags in country are imported illegally.

industry will not import them because they have to be plugged prior to import for the most part.... (or so questar implies with regards to the 9mm plastic ar15 mags)

Most pamgs are selling for $50 cdn right now...
