How about build a Swiss arms lower compatible with AR uppers and Ar mags. IE non restricted ;). Would be nice to use some of those AR uppers for varmints etc.

Good Idea but I do believe this will be an EPIC FAIL as it will be an AR Variant or at least give cause to move the Swiss Arms rifles to Restricted

Would it even need to have anything to do with the firearms center? The lower isn't the controled part, it's the upper thats registered. If anything it would be an after-market accessory.

No but it falls directly in the RCMP's Jurisdiction as the CFC is not ruling body. What you describing at least is a unrestricted at the worst a prohibited firearm and as such when either the Upper or Lower Receiver have no serial numbers.Now what is interesting is that if this project went ahead what would the RCMP do
1:They can say no which is very likely
2: Approve and have the owners of all SIG/Swiss arms rifles have serial numbers engraved on thier lowers and change the designated serial # part moving it from the upper to the lower receiver and as such this would make the conversion lower acceptable .Their are other legal factors that come into play in that have to addressed .This will may or not fail
3: Revoke the Non Restricted status of the Swiss Arms Rifle Although this is the worst case scenario it can be done with out OIC it is highly unlikely

If the upper is the firearm, tell me why anyone has to be notified of anything??? This isn't like the 180B or the AR where the lower is the controlled item. Compare it to an FN....anyone can buy an FN lower complete and it's completely legal. Maybe I'm missing your point.
 
My bad....re read all the posts...I was arguing for an AR type lower compatable with a SIG upper not an AR upper....I catch your drift now....ofcoarse it would require approval. :redface:
 
All I wanna see is somthing along the lines of that SIG 556 lower...takes AR mags, pistol grips and stocks. Thats what I want. I think then the SIG line would have more appeal.
 
see the beauty of having a machine like ATR does is that once he gets and pays for the computer programming to make something he can do one offs whenever he needs to.... hegets an order for 20 AR15 lowers, bam he runs the machine to do it.

so on for anything else from bolt knobs to actions.... once the programming is done it is just machine time and tool replacment.
 
and setting up of the jigs, making sure everything is zeroed right, running a test run, QCing it. not just a quick slap a block in and machine it.

Yup. Other than trying to get a non registered firearm out of it. :D. Non registered Swiss arms lower, non registered AR upper. I can dream right?

Besides we just need something like the HERA adapter that's being used with the HK SL8. It's a sleeve that goes around the AR mag so you can use it in a non modified HK SL8 rifle. Should be able to do the same thing with the PE-90. The only reason I even see for doing this are the 10 round pistol mags.
 
Any idea what it might cost to create the CNC program for a new lower? The AR lower is already an existing CNC program. I think working with an existing design has more value for now than creating new.

Agree with Slavex. Having seen the preparation and time it takes for the Timberwolf, doing one offs is not commercially vialble. I'm sure ATR will be able to tell you what a minimum order would be before it's commercially viable.
