New Rifle for Africa

In that case, I recommend you buy a new T3 Hunter. What more could you ask for in a gentleman's rifle. Except more steel maybe...:p

I wouldn't dream of attempting to dissuade someone from buying a new rifle, but "plains" game can be killed just fine to 300 yards with anyhtign in the 30-06/7RM/300 class of cartridges. If you are trying to keep weight and recoil reduced, you might want to think about it.

If you must get a new rifle, I'd try out a Kimber, just becuase I dont' have one yet.:p

I love the Sako Hunter 85. Mine is in 7mm rem mag. It kicks significantly less than a Tikka so it may minimize the kick of a .338. Ive seen a .338 drop a moose in its tracks so it is more than enough gun. Is the 7mm rem mag with 160 grain accubonds bif enough for non dangerous game?

You all seem to be missing the point....I know there are a hundred catridges that will do the job but I want a .338 for this trip. No reason other than that's what I want!
