Russian SKS45 long thread.

Here are some shots of my first SKS that I picked up from Milarm in Edmonton. I am NOT a photographer, obviously.

A lot of people are receiving notifications today . Dose not actually mean the gun is with Can post . As it is a electronically submitted order . Can post still has to p/up from the dealer . Monday I would think . So don't expect them next week . Unless you are in the same province .

I forgot something from my last post. From Milarm I received some "bonus" gear...three leather pouches, sling or strap, bottle of oil, and some sort of black spring / tube. I have no idea what any of this is for. I am going to bed now, but I will try and get pics up tomorrow of everything.

black spring / tube. ??? Are you talking about the tool kit tube????

If you don't mind me asking, which Milarm grade of SKS is that one? Nice rifle BTW.

LOL...Milarm would need to have set grades and pricing for me to tell you that. :D

The pricing seemed completely arbitrary...I walked in with info from a phone call the day before telling me their top grade sold for $225 ( They have three grades I believe). I saw rifles from $200 - $300 there. Multiple staff behind the counter could not define why they were priced this way, nor what grade they were. They were able to tell me that the laminate stocks were worth a bit more (I think they start at $225), and that the higher priced rifles had more matching components. :runaway:

I ended up buying a refurb laminate stock (1952 I believe) for $250. So I would guess that I bought the "middle grade"?? :)

LOL...YES. I didn't really look at what I had until this morning. My buddy showed me the stuff while I was driving, so I didn't get a look at it. I felt like a moron this morning when I cracked that "tube" open to find a cleaning kit.

this is the most complicated pricing i ever seen , if i worked there i too would be confused .

it would only work if one person , preferable the person who came up with this pricing go thru all 200 and tagged them .

Well guys, its been almost a year since I ordered mine :) almost surreal that its finally coming in. Is anyone else going to spend a whole day intricately cleaning every piece, assemble it, only to take it apart and do it all over again just 'cause you can? I will. Now all I need is an M1.. damn you Gran Turino!

Got to love Can post . Yours says 22 mine says 26 . Takes 4 extra days from Edm to BC
LOL .

I guess lot's of snow in the Mountains - hard to cross :D. Can post closed 24 and 25 So most likely it will be at your area on 23 Friday but they wouldn't bother for the delivery untill Monday morning which is 26.

I'd love to develop a precision '7.62x39' rig, if that's possible, lol. I know it won't get out far, but it would be fun to piss with.

Not with an SKS you won't. They are NOT know for accuracy. I have seen bolt rifles chambered in 7.62x39 that were quite accurate.

I wasn't talking about the SKS, hence the discussion on the Norc bushmaster and that Ruger carbine. :)

Ah, I see, should have read the post better . My friend said he had a CZ bolt rifle in x39 that shot sub-moa & was an excellent deer rifle. He traded it away on another deal, but wishes he still had it. He still has a bunch of x39 boxer brass that I must try to get from him.
