Other than that fresh gouge in the stock it looks pretty nice to me

Yeah, I am a big baby. It`s very nice, I will take it apart and clean it. I will get a red one next time.... lol.
My mystery rifle
Ok as someone suggested earlier I took a few pic. No very good ones but its a start. Hope this works, my first time.
To recap I got a rifle with no factory stamp/date on the cover.
At first I figured it was a 1955/56 but theres no star on the side!
The stock is birch. It got two previous serial numbers Xed out so this is the
3rd rifle this stock is on. The mag well/cover is a refurb with 1 serial ##crossed out. The gas tube is electro penciled so I guess its new too.
Everything else matches. Took a good look a the bore, look good. Not super shinny but I didnt expeect it to be. Theres a shinny ring on the bore mouth.
(Potential Problems??)
Aside from the serials and refurb marking, the stock has two very small dings, otherwise look new.

The serial start PO 24, anyone else with one in the same batch?

Yup. I have completely dismantled mine now. Everything matches except the mag. lol. It`s in very good shape. i forgive it for not being red...
Kinda sucks how it's refurb though... considering you paid for a "hand-select".
I wonder if you would've gotten a better rifle if you ordered a "shooter condition". But what you got definitely isn't bad... it's in great condition from the looks of it.

Yeah, I feel a bit ripped cuz of the whole hand select title... Whatever, it`s nice, I will clean it up and shoot it.

ya, full dissasembly and cleaning didnt fix it, I think its a combination of the pinning being a little too long, and an overly large weld, maybe the spring is shorter too, I havnt tried pulling that out yet
looks nicer than either of my shooter grades (although I like my 54's cheetah spot looking stock more)
the gouge in your stock was prolly put there by DHL

It`s just a scrape, so how should I refinish the stock???? Any ideas???? I just wanna make it pretty.
if your follower touches the feed lips then the "block" that lifts up should hold the bolt open.if the follower dosen't touch the feed lips then that block won't lift up high enough to engage the bolt.man,they really did a half-a$$ed job welding that pin in place--oh well,that's what dremels are for...
p.s. i'm still very happy with my $283.45 gun.it's not a $2000.00 gun it's a milsurp...
