Have they changed it?

Last I looked, you couldn't shoot on Crown Land, but you were still good to go on private property with permission from the landowner.

If you know the right folks, a permit for "control' purposes can be got. A friend used to get permits to clean out the gophers around some of the roadside rest stop areas, when he was working for Highways.

shot my first gopher today,about 20 yds with 17hmr not a twitch after that. not the first gopher i have seen but the first one when i had a gun.

We have some members here who 'claim' they have shot some gophers, but who will have the first confirmed kill of 2009?? Maybe the picture should have a newspaper with the date shown so people don't pull out old gophers shooting pics.

I've heard gopher shooters can lie almost as bad as fishermen.

Well if it's proof you need, I only aquired this little popper just before hunting season last Fall, long after the gophers went down for the year.

Still lots of snow here in South east Sask, but today I saw 3 gophers and about 200 geese on the occasional grassy spots that are slowly appearing.

Tomorrow I'm gonna try my luck.
