Russian SKS45 long thread.

I Just got a call too from Cabela. And I, too, was told a 45 unissued. I do find this hard to believe. Weren't they frist made in 1949?But if it's unnissued, and I will find soon enough - well let's just say I will be dancing naked around the campfire.

I just got this from SIR after asking about my Mar 4/08 order ...
Actually we have received some, but they are calling people in order of how they are placed and I have no way of knowing if you are in the first order, but if you are they will call you, that is the best answer I have for today on the SKS’s thanks.

yes, 1949 was the first year it was produced .... there is no SKS made in 1945 , when they say 45 or 1945 they meant the model name SKS45 or SKS 1945 (on my CFC transfer notice).

Yeah, I knew something about the SKS! :)
Still hope it could be unissued. Didn't feel like asking them to check, would have been too much of a challenge I think.

Can't wait to see pic's of these rare 1945 unissued SKS's SIR is telling every one they are getting . I guess my Mar 1st 08 order is not included . Maybe I'll get a unissued 1943 prototype from the second batch
LOL

Weird 15 min after I posted this my phone rings , " Hello this is Cabelas Canada " She tells me I have a unissued 1945 SKS waiting for me . I didn't have the heart to tell her they didn't make a SKS in 1945 . So I just said OK SHIP IT & Thank you

weren't there some (no idea of number) that were tested in WWII, the 7.62x39 is the M43 and the SKS has 45 in the name.

Yes,there were prototypes tested in 1944-45. From these the final design was approved in 1945. As for any of these prototypes still existing, and then being shipped out of Russia..........................

Sir

i called them this morning and before i accepted their offer , i said i need to know who is your supplier , she said she didnt know and passed me to a dude who refused to tell me , he said its against company policy so i said you need not tell me but you could you tell me if im right in my guesses. i asked is it bell , IZH and northern tackle ? and he replied none of them .

good enuff, as long as its not bell which are refurb and painted , i ordered it bcos $200 for immaculate is the cheapest i have gotten so far . i have bot from HH in yorkton, IZH for $200 in near excellect condition but they charged $40 shipping and handling where as SIR is riduclously cheap , i think less than half or something .

You know curtton, we're all getting 1945-dated, experimental prototypes which have Simonov's own hand signature on them, so I share your enthusiasm :D

Just got off the phone with Cabela's. $445 for two, all in. Possibly a week to 10 days before shipping, but I'm "right at the top of the list".

Was told they were "not refurbished" but I really don't care if they are or aren't.
