Russian SKS45 long thread.

It would be an awesome deal if they made them in 1945. As far as I can find and what Curtton has posted, they started to manufacture them in 1949.
My bet is, the lady took the SKS45 as the 45 being the date it was manufactured.

I hope you enjoy your new rifles, it has been a long wait for all of you. I still think the one I ordered from MovingTarget will be here before SIR/Cabellas delivers.

DO NOT FORGET TO POST PICTURES FOR ALL OF US TO DROOL OVER!!!

I LOVE THIS THREAD :D :D
Hopefully Curtton shows up soon to straighten it out.

CURTTON where are you?

when i got home , there was a message on the answering machine from calvin (SIR) saying there is an SKS waiting for me (i didnt like the "an" cos i ordered two) , he quoated me my order/ref number and processed to say its not the one i ordered , the one they have now is $240 but bcos i waited this long they will drop it down to $200 .

he described it as "immaculate condition" , comes with bayo, cleaning kit , sling .

so what should i do ??? ... if it was $169 , i would buy it no matter what .

$200 for an "immaculate condition " is still the best price so far . i will call them tomorrow and get more details as to what they received but im pretty sure i will buy it .

im trying not to get excited till tomorrow .LOL.

I could be wrong, but I believe there were a very limited production of sks that saw combat testing in 1944 and 1945, but regular production started in 1949.

I think the lady who told you it was a 45 has Dyslexia :D:D

You be nice to Vera. She's my favorite person today :D

It looks like what is going on at SIR is that they are using what the CFC are calling all of the Russian SKSs. The CFC is not differentiating between Tula or Izehvsk, nor by years. They are all being called made by Simonov, model SKS1945. They probably don't even have your gun in their hand when they call you.
