CZ 858 VS Norinco M4

Don't know if this is the right thread to ask these questions but I thought that this is where most of the the expertise on the CZ 858 and so on is probably found.

My first question - are the stock components from the VZ-58, CZ-58 and CZ-858 all compatible?

My second one - does anyone know of any distributor in Canada that would sell the following kit:

I was going to get an M4 for sure, but after reading this thread, I'm considering an 858. Wolverine has nice accessories for it too. It looks like it could be pretty accurate with that long, non-restricted barrel , although the choice of scope could be limited to red dots , being all the way towards the front like that.

Anyone ever try a magnified scope on this, maybe with some sort of Dragunov style mount, maybe an SVD or something?

Just find an intermediate or long eye relief (IER/LER) - preferably a scout scope and this should work fine. The only drawback is that these scope are usually of low magnification.

You might be able to find some on e-bay but if not, a couple of the major scope manufacturers will be able to accommodate you including Burris and Leupold.

Yeah, that was my first idea too, but like you said they're usually low magnification. I'd try to make a poor man's Dragunov with this, if I could find some mount for further back on the receiver and a skeletonized stock. Or just put a red dot on it for a more CQB setup, but that long barrel would look nicer for a long range setup.

This thread interests me a great bit too, as I have been looking hard at buying one of the two rifles in this thread.

Stevo, or anyone else who has a ton of experience with both the ar-15 and cz 858 rifles, what can you comment about the magazines of both rifles?

I have heard that the CZ mags leave something to be desired in the durability category. Is this true? Which rifle do you foresee having to buy replacement mags first for?

What about a source of replacement barrels for either rifle?
 
VZ mags are pretty sturdy I would say better then aluminum AR mags. In fact the mags are probably the worst part of the ARs design.

Durrability of magazines isn't a concern for Canadian sport shooters. It is only a concern to people using them in combat and even then they aren't horrible.

Mags for both (generally) are made of aluminum. I let my mags drop free for both the AR and Vz/Cz regardless the ground I'm on. I've damaged one Vz mag, the rear of the feedlips cracked, the same place most mags would if used alot. The mag still functions fine. I don't think mag durability is much of a concern when comparing the two rifles.

Thanks for the info guys!! I'm new to this site and am happy I found it. I can normally find the answers to questions I have or at lease get opinions on things that help me make decisions. One thing I like about this site is that people don't use it as a political soundboard, or rant about stuff they know little about. For example, I own Llama & Norinco firearms in my collection and they are accurate, reliable, inexpensive guns. Some people describe them as junk, having never picked one up.
Back to the original question! I too will buy both the CZ 858 tactical II & the Norinco M4. The reviews are awesome for both of these guns. They are both completely different weapons, but they are the best of what's out there (for the price). Ultimately, they will both end up in the Prohibited catagory sooner than later. The U.S. announced their intention to ban assault weapons all together and as you know, when they sneeze in the U.S., Canadians run out and buy kleenex!!
