thanks moving target for the best russian SKS i have ever seen .

Its called art :D:redface:

I don’t think mine is a truly unissued rifle.
It has been disassembled before, there are faint marks from the take down lever and the gas cylinder tube latch.
I don’t care, the rifle looks great.
Moving Target did fine by me and I will be a repeat customer.

Norton what does the butt plate look like? Is there any wear on the heel or toe of it?

curtton you really are the man!! Besides getting the nicest Russian SKSs imported so far you also get ones with bayonets on both ends...........What will you acquire next?

oh no not me, you got to be the man, after all you must have spoted the bayos on both ends in my pics cos i didnt know.

how did i miss that? i got to be acquiring new pair of glasses thats for sure.

Think about this: the rifles were made over 50 years ago, have been kept in storage for XX years, have been checked once in awhile, have been moved around, inspected again, packed and shipped overseas, taken apart for whatever reason, inspected, magazine pinned, put together, etc.
Even the most pristine has some signs of manipulation on it.
Look at the condition of the bolt, carrier, piston and cylinder, hammer, etc. and you can determine whether the gun has been used or not. They may not have been issued but that doesn't mean they are fresh from the factory.

They were lucky to make it over here, look what happened to their little cousins, most of them brand new, never used...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo sniffle sniffle,life....sooo cruel:bangHead:

Well, this is called evolution.
Estonia, former soviet republic and new NATO and EU member is upgrading hardware and make it compatible with NATO caliber standards; that happened all over eastern europe over the last 2 decades, but other countries were more pragmatic and made money selling them overseas. Local collectors/shooters cannot buy that unless they have strong connections to the powers-to-be.
500 per container times 8 or so it's at least 4000 mostly never used pistols. I could have taken half a dozen of each, wouldn't mind soiling my hands to pick up what I like :(

What a damn shame!

Cheers
Jay

I put a Tapco stock on my Norinco SKS but I wouldn't do a thing to one of those beauties! I don't know what it is about the SKSs but I would love to buy a couple more. This time I will keep the wood if it looks like yours. Congrats!

on mine , there was a black touch up paints on the butt plates and around the muzzles. i can with my finger nail remove the paints and i can see whats below, yup! the scratches left by the bayo.

Mine had some black paint where the bluing wore off on the edges of the butt plate too. I scraped it off with my finger nail. It didn’t concern me one little bit :D

me neither , i didnt even bother to scrape the paint off the butt plate .:D

mine had that too, i think it looks better without the ugly black flakey paint, the wear on the blueing gives it character :D
