Appreciation for Service Program for Canadian Forces Personnel

If Para Ordnance were so sincere about showing appreciation to the CF members they would have initiated this program long before they started the a program for US servicemen and LEO instead of Now .

IIRC Canadian Forces is a trademarked name and they would have needed permission from NDHQ to use it, that in itself could have taken years to get. They are doing it now so why ##### they didn't do it before, here's a straw, now suck it up!

I am sorry if you took the post personaly I was and should have stated it at that more clearly .I appoglize if I cast doubts on your intentions

No offense taken, I understand your point. I just did not want people to think I am joining the forces for the thanks and the pretty uniform (although I will look quite good in the Airforce Blue:D)

Your right it does need NDHQ approval,It appears that it only took Para Ordance 6 months to get the CF's permission to use the LOGO :jerkit:

...And since they just came out, it means he took advantage of Para's Thank you to the CF for his own personal gain.

There seems to be alot of assumption in this thread to that effect.
For all you know he could need to pay for rent or tuition or food for him and his family or......you get the idea...

If he bought it, did not like it, and sold it for the sale price, it may be a different story.

Why should he sell it for the sale price? Why is the price a factor for anyone but the <potential> buyer?

I will be taking possession of three of these pistols - that is if they are ever delivered. I may or may not keep them forever, I would have absolutely no problem selling one or all at any time though. I know guys that ordered one to keep and one to sell, that is their option. I owe the CF f*ck-all, as a matter of fact quite the reverse, and many others are in the same boat. It is easy to spout all this honour and sacrifice BS, even easier for those who have never served or been overseas.

This is quite simple in my mind: we got a group rate on an item, endured sh*tty customer service and delivery time (assuming they are eventually delivered), and now we can keep or resell this item as we see fit. As far as price, CAVEAT EMPTOR baby. As far as respecting the "appreciation" shown to the CF for this deal, I'm certain they would do the exact same thing for the Girl Guides or Bloggins & District Snowmobile Club if they put in a bulk order. This is targeted marketing, and what they lose in unit mark-up they gain in volume of sales. Wake up and smell the profit margin.

I believe ParaOrdnance is sincere about showing appreciation to CF Members. The program is not specific to any one agency or Force. What it does take though is a individual in that force or agency to act as the POC/OPI. In the CF's appreciation program, it was Words Twice who took on that challenge and put in the extensive staff work to secure permission from the CF to allow the name to be used on the pistols.

To Words Twice: thank you very much.

There are other programs within the ParaOrdnance program as well that may seemingly be tied to the CF program but they are not. For instance the various TFA pistols,, each with their own POC/OPI.

So,, it isn't ParaOrdnance's responsibility to initiate these programs. It is up to each agency/force to pony up with their design and secure orders from their members.

As for selling them after delivered to the individual,, well it's personal property and they can do whatever they wish. I'm not about to question anyone's motives without being party to their own personal circumstances.

I think the seller has too much attention focused on him, quite a few people are angry at him for trying to sell it but I find the situation to be quite funny.

In the future:
"Hey grandpa, thats a cool looking pistol. It's even engraved! Is says Canadian Forces on it....where'd ya get it?"

Legitimate Buyer: "Well when I was a young man the world was much different than it is today. The country was in need of brave men and women.... I was one of those people and this pistol serves as a reminder of those days"

"Other": Well I bought it off the internet despite the fact that I've never served a day in my life, it really has no meaning to me other than the fact I paid too much money for it.... and my grandson called me out for being a wannabe"

Maybe the buyer should check out ebay I heard you can buy some crazy medals on there that would compliment this pistol nicely , like bronze stars, purple hearts and foreign service medals...

While I agree that the private sale debate has run it's course, I'd like to see the thread stay open for updates on ongoing orders. In that vein, anyone get any further updates on the TF 1-08 pistols?

Not that I'm aware of or can find. If you have a link please hook me up.

Wouldn't be the first time I needed a Sgt to sort me out...:D

well i called para today and put my name on one for the 2009 run(i guess).the email sent to me showing what model im getting was "We have received your order for (1) PRX745CB. Thank-you!"the main thing i really cared about is what caliber i had to pick from.when ordering she said 40S&W or 45acp.i went with the 45acp.other then that im going to be happy.price was GREAT for an Appreciation for Service edition(this is why i wanted one).as for the guys looking to flip it to make a $BUCK$....well the one how buys it are more deserving and will appreciateit more, then the guy how first got it just because he has a service #.
anyway since im big time new to handguns what will the model look like that i have comeing?

I am hoping that the Para TTR will be available on the 2009 program. I had seen a video on it detailing the gas system and it looks quite appealing to me except for the small clip for the oprod. Anyone interested in the program should check out the Para forum.

I asked about the TTR and here is the answer:The rifle is still in prototype form. If Para launches the rifle this year, I will attempt to have it added to our program. Stand-by for more details.

To Words Twice...big thanks

Words Twice efforts should be appreciated. Whether guys/gals want to take advantage of the deal or not is up to them.

Personally I would think that a momento item usually isn't something one sells. However I believe in supply and demand as well as a freer market. As someone mentioned, the prices of rare/exclusive, etc items like G36s allow for a skyrocket price.

As for the deal being a serving member........er...I think the ideal intention would be as such, but one only needs a forces email and there are countless civies working in the CF too.
