Who has the worst customer service?

Oh the shooting edge, what a place. Between the mall ninjas that showed up wanting to "touch a glock", and the clowns behind the counter with their empty leg holsters (maybe someone can explain to me why they wear them) cooing over a broad that showed up, all while ignoring me when I was blatantly standing at the front of the counter, prepared to drop a whole pile of money on ammo...

I took my business elsewhere. I thought Wholesale was bad, but after going there, it only affirms my belief that mall ninjas are about as smart as a hoover vacuum cleaner.

beat me to it.

Been there 4 times over 4 years and have come to the conclusion that they suck! Their staff for the most part was disintrested or annoyed that a customer was asking them for product.

Meh. Wholesale Sports in Edmonton has ditched the pick-a-number machine.

I waited for over 40 minutes there, to pick up some stuff I promised to find for a friend, and ended up giving up, and offered up my number to the guy that had been there almost as long as me. Mind numbing, to think that they manage to stay in business with as many walk-aways as I saw that day, myself included. It wasn't busy enough to justify the waits.
Last time I was in, I got decent service, and pretty quick, too, which was a nice change. The young fella knew where the stuff I was looking for was, and was quick about dealing with me and getting on to the next customer. It was a nice change.

I try to have catalog numbers or makers part numbers in hand when I go there, rather than asking for generic anything, though.

Had great service every time, at the WSS in Lethbridge, though. Place has a whole different vibe to it, and I have not left there feeling like I should have spent my money elsewhere.

Cheers
Trev

Wait times longer than the Wholesale Sports gun counter. On the bright side they don't make you take a number.

Hahahahahahahaha! :D

After dumping about $1800 at Bass Pro (the service on my first 3 visits was superb!) I went back to check out their rangefinders. I asked the fellow at the counter what the difference was between the feature sets of 2 that were in the same price range. His response was to take them out of the cabinet, say "have a look for yourself and figure it out", and then looked past me to the guy standing behind me and start to serve him!!!

OMG was I pissed off!! Everything that my wife, son and I had picked out went right back to the shelves and we left.

I have had bad service in places before, but this went so far beyond "bad" that it would take one hell of a good sale for me to go back there again.

Was this on Saturday? If so I was the guy eyeballing the Benneli's to your left carrying a camo blind bag. If not, that happening twice, all I can say is wow!

You have to know when there is a sign at WSS's gun counter letting you know that yelling and swearing at the staff won't be tolerated that they have ticked a few people off. No?

I've been to the shooting edge numerous times, and I can say this with confidence.

The owner(s) are very good, they are 100% dedicated to customers and they really truly do want to help.
There are some really really good guys among the sales staff, and they are just as good as the owners and are concerned with your needs and a paycheck rather than just the paycheck.

Then there are the guys who just want a paycheck, and they don't want to work at all. ANY RETAIL location has guys like this, and they just ####ing suck. They don't want to help, and you know because they ignore you. When you force them to help you because you really do need some help, they give bad advice, they make idiotic comments, or they're rude. There are defenitly a small bunch of them at the edge...

I don't like it when people say "i'll never ever shop there again because the guy at the counter ignored me and was checking out a broad instead. I hate it because that's really not giving a store a good chance. Chances are, the store does have good service but the guy was having a bad day, or is just a douche and you were in the store at the wrong time.

Employee's represent the store, there is no question, but to balance your choice of shopping there again or never again on that one employee is your loss. It's your loss because if you complain to managment and let them know then chances are good it won't happen to another customer, and more importantly you again. If you actually went back there a second time and talked to managment or gave someone else a chance, you probably would have some awesome service and good recommendations.

I think this should be a lesson to the shooting edge (regarding the original post) that whoever is handeling emails at that time, needs to be talked to.
It's important to route out the pieces of #### that work there and to reward the ones that really do their job, and do it well. Hiring is hard here in calgary, even with the recession where I work we're still getting total boneheads that work here. They stay too because we need the coverage because quite frankly, there is no one else.
It's situations like this in which we can't fire the employee but rather really try and improve them. If that doesn't help, their hours get cut and we keep them for shifts that are only truly necessary.
Sometimes you can't help bad employee's and it's hard to let them go because you need them. But sometimes you gotta make the call that this guy's been working at this store for 4 years and I've heard nothing but complaints over and over again. He's been written up, couseled but it's quite obvious that he really doesn't give a ####. FIRED.

This is funny to read ,because I get treated well at all of them, especially TSE, might it have something to do with attitude.

It could very well be. However I'm a pretty pleasent guy to deal with and I've had a couple of a-holes there give me a hard time. I talked to management eventually about it and they were very sincere in apologizing.

Hmmm, lately most of my experience has been good with the exception of
SIR/Cabelas in Manitoba.

Russels - Uniformly courtious, helpful, and efficient.

Wholesale - I deal with the Kamloops store. They started out...with opportunity to be better. In all fairness to them they have improved from pretty dysfunctional, from my experience, up to average to good service. They have hired some good people and done some training I suspect.

I have no direct experience with P&D and TSE but I emailed both about a scope I'm saving up for and both got back to me promptly. We'll see...

LeBaron, nuff said. Between being told that civilians have no use for hollowpoints, that I needed to show them a PAL to buy reloading components and the clerk flat out insulting the .280 I was buying the components for, not to mention not being able to mail me a choke tube because it was under 35$, Lebaron frigging Sucks.

The lady at the checkout is brutal, always some unbelievable comment. Last time she's shuffling around trying to read the boxes because her vision has deteriorated, and instead of just getting the ammo so we can leave she spins around with a stern glare and says, "Soft point, now that is ONLY for hunting."

After giving me the hard stare for 5 seconds she goes back to searching. I guess soft points are banned for sighting in or target shooting because when they hit paper they explode into hydrogen bombs.

Nope. Friday afternoon, after the gun show. Sad that it would happen more than once.

Ah well, think I'll wait and get one of those new Leupolds from P&D when they come out.

I'll have to jump in here and provide a counter point. All my major purchases in the last year have come from TSE. All my dealings with them have been topnotch. I bought a firearm from them and encountered a minor warranty issue with the finish on the bolt. I PM'd redleg here on CGN and explained my problem. He didn't even blink, had me ship the bolt back to them and said he would send out a new one. Great I thought, it will be a couple of weeks before I get it. But to my surprise them new bolt was at my door in two days from my initial contact with redleg. He didn't even look at my old bolt, hell it wasn't even to Calgary, before he shipped out the new bolt.

I have ordered stuff over the phone and had it arrive with the proper items in a very timely matter (as in they shipped it the same day I ordered it).

They only problem I ever had was it was crowded one day when I made a special trip to Calgary to pick up a shotgun, I phoned before hand to double check the availability and was told they were in stock. When I got there 4 hours later I found out they only had the display model left, so I ended up with the display gun that had been handled, racked and dry fired by everyone and their dog, but I got good service from the guy helping me and got a few boxes of slugs for my troubles.

Every shop or dealer on this board has had bad days when things don't go their way and the customer service suffers, but I say put yourself in their position and see how you deal with the stress. :)

I do not hesitate to shop at TSE and hope the rest of you stay away so its not so crowded ever time I go there :D

Also, the reason those guys are wearing their holster is because they are also Range Officers, when they're not supervising on the range they are helping behind the counter.

how do explain the no reply to my second email?

Wholesale Sports Calgary is without a doubt the worst.

I was there today just before lunch to put down money on a rifle and a scope as a gift from a group of us for a friend's birthday.

I never bought anything from Wholesale for about 5 years since I could no longer handle the attitude of some of the guys working at the gun counter, but today I went there only because BassPro did not have the rifle in stock yet, and I heard Wholesale does.

Anyhow I tell the guy at the counter what I want, and I ask him how much is it? He says "I'll need the gun manufacture's stock number from their catalog".

I'm thinking what? Why? Wholesale has their own stock #'s? But he asked me for it 3 times. I don't have the stock number. He starts acting like he can't do anything for me, so I just said forget it and I left.

I was going to push it, but there was something a little off about this guy, and my senses said it's best just to leave.

We'll be going to BassPro this weekend to pick out something they have in stock, and Wholesale can #### themselves for good.

Aint that the truth!!

The Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire sporting goods departments are in a dead heat for me. And I ain't kidding.

Especially at the automotive parts desk. But there is one exception, if ya ever go into the canadian tire on the south hill in Red Deer, and deal with the manager of the gun counter, you will be surprised the service you will get from him. My buddy wanted him to get in some .30 carbine and under 2 weeks he had 10 boxes. I tell ya, i think hes the first one that will go the extra mile to get stuff special order if he can get it. My hats off to him.

The worst for me, is the attitude at Milarm. You dont have to tell me that "you'll charge as much as you can cause its hard to get ammo". Goin in there is like goin back to an ex girlfriend that you hate, but your desperate for a one nighter.

The CT in south red deer is pretty decent. I have scored a good deal or two there, and James (hunting manager) seems to give a ####.

That being said, the hunting and shooting industry holds some pretty high standards for their retailers. I work in the construction industry, and sometimes i feel the urge to shout profanities at the people im trying to give business to.
