If you could only choose one gun and it was between the following two, which would it be, and why?

1)Glock 17

2)Glock 22

Do you reload or plan to reload?
9mm is much cheaper to shoot if you are buying factory ammo but if you reload the cost difference is pretty negligible. IMO .40 is more fun to shoot so assuming I could shoot the same number of rounds through each I'd get the G22.

Glock 22

Glock 22 .40 S&W

Because the one I've been shooting since 1995 has over 30,000 rounds thru it without one hiccup.

This Glock works [for me]

I keep hearing that but everytime I look around its only like 2 dollars different per box.

This will be be my first gun and likely one ill fire the #### out of so I'm thinking 9mm because everyone needs a 9mm to beat up AND its probably smarter for me to learn the basics on a 9mm rather a .40 caliber. But I kind of feel like I might regret not getting something more fun to shoot...

you know, i opted for the g22 rtf, but if i had the money, i would go for a g21...the 45 cal has a really sweet action...the recoil is slow and it actually kicks a lot less than my g22....i am actually considering purchasing the 45 next

$2/box = like $100-$200/month for me. If you shoot a lot it adds up, quickly.

Maybe I shouldn't get too ahead of myself. Probably look at getting the g17 first because, let's be honest, I'm sure there will be plenty more to come.

I just went through this a few months ago. I kept the Gen 3 G 22, and sold the G17 and G19.

Since I still had LOTS of 9MM ball left, I kept a few 9 MM mags, and also picked up a Lone Wolf 40/9mm conversion barrel for the Gen G22.
Now i can shoot 40, 9mm, and .22 LR all through the same pistol.

Problem solved.

It all depends on your shooting style and desires.

As a point though, the .40 will accept 9mm and .22 conversion kits, whereas the 9mm will only accept .22. Not sure this matters because the conversion kits are getting to be prohibitively expensive anyways.

if its like me, then 11 in the next year, lol (thats pistols rifles and shotguns combined)

and I'd go G17 if I had to get a glock, 9mm has a lot of future selection to choose from, makes it easy to take multiple guns to the range when they all shoot the same ammo

G17... it's the original...

A conversion kit (like the Advantage Arms LE kit) will set you back about $400 in Canada.

If I thinking about buying another Glock, I'd give serious consideration to the G34.

You get;
- a longer barrel/sight radius
- 3.5 lbs disconnector
- Extended control

Last but not least... if you are active/retired LE/Army... don't forget to ask about your discount!

Advantage Arms is sold out of theirs .22lr kits for the G17 and so is pretty much every retailer in Canada. The last few that had them in stock were selling them for about $500. When they pop up on the EE they are usually ~$500.
