7.62mm DCRA LE No4 conversion thread

I hate this website sometimes. I have had one DCRA rifle for many years now, and since watching this thread over the last few weeks I have been forced to go this week and buy another one. CURSES!!! (Thanks Dogger) Here they are together with a couple of related goodies:

The top one is a 1950 Long Branch reciever, conversion number 624. This rifle came along with an accurized No 1 Mk III* and a home made wooden transit case for both rifles, an old canvas rifle case, spare barrel for the No 1, bore guide, leather muzzle cover for the No 1, etc. I believe they were probably both owned by the same shooter, although I don't have his name. In this shot you can just make out some bedding in behind the back of the fore end.:

Here is a closer view of the Parker Hale front sight:

The other rifle is built up on a 1942 Savage No 4 Mk I (no star!) and is a little closer to a service rifle configuration. Conversion number is 905:

It is very faint in this photo, but it is also FTR marked from the UK in 1949:

The bolt-looking-thingy in the first photo is an AGP cleaning rod guide that replaces the bolt so you don't gouge up the chamber with the rod when cleaning. Here is a better view:

Conv. barrels

Found two more conversion barrels in the dungeon. One is from conversion #498 and the other an unmarked replacement. If anyone knows of #498, here is the barrel.

The difference beween the two is in the parkerizing. Both are without foresight bands. The numbered barrel has no parkerizing in the foresight area. The replacement barrel is fully parkerized.

Conv. Action #1822

Looking through a box of actions...........Found conversion action #1822. Looks to be a new 1943 LB.

I will list my DCRA goodies once i get time to get at them, but right now am looking for a PH5C eye piece, the one that screws into the horizontal slider, thanks

There seems to be one for sale every week or so..just keep an eye, they seem to go for $200 or less.

Just getting ready to list this one for sale in the EE but someone had a WTB post looking for one so I sent a PM to him.
I thought it was #1183 but it’s #1182 so you can update my numbers if you like Airborn 69 and sorry about that.
It’s a Brit. Receiver FTR’d and updated to No4Mk2.

The FTR serial number on the bolt and receiver match as does the DCRA numbers on the bolt, barrel and receiver.

(this photo taken by the last owner as I have not had it apart)

It has the correct CA 7.62 mark on the end of the barrel and of course no bayonet lugs.

Do you remember if it had a conv#?

As well, what year it was built etc...

thx

S

It was a UF55 A-- number. Sold it a gent in Sask. with the initials J.T. I believe!;)

I don't have the conversion number unfortunately. I did see one with the same PH markings and from the same serial range a few weeks ago. It was conversion number 113.

One thing I regret not doing is keeping a book with details of what I bought, where, when and for how much etc.

I got so excited posting pic of my new rifle I forgot to ask what loads you guys find are the most accurate in your rifles? I don't want to hijack the thread into a reloading tangent, so feel free just to PM me with your answers. Thanks.
