PAL "in progress"

I was called on earlier this week (may 13th) and so were both my reference (My application was received by them on april 23rd).

They asked me basically the same questions I answered on the application form (If i had committed violent crime, if i was depressive, etc...).

They asked my buddy if I had bad temper, if I was a violent person, if they would turn me in if they suspected me to behave badly with firearms.

One of my ref called back yesterday (he better did ;P) because he wasn't home when they called. I don't know from this point what's supposed to happen and/or how much time it's going to take...

thanks Rivalen, sort of what i thought.

Actually, yes. It took 21 days for my restricted PAL. :D

Am I convincing on the phone? Hell yeah!

Yes, it's me, yes, yes, ok...no, no, no, no, no, no, no, never did that, never, nope, hell no... thanks sir have a nice day, I'm calling your references and I approve your restricted PAL. Thanks! :D

PAL/RPAL woot!

They left a message with one of my references a week ago, and he never called them back, they just talked to him now and literally as soon as he called me back, I checked the site and the above message popped up!

I literally had the exact same thing happen today. Both my references are roommates. One was contacted a month ago and the other one wasn't home so he was left a number to call. Took him until this morning to call. Against all reasonable expectation, I checked my application status and it was already marked as approved. Very excited. Already have picked out what I need for this upcoming hunting season.
Day 51 (In all fairness my friend was totally responsible for the delay.)

It changed today, exactly on the 28th day. Yay! Now, let's wait for the mailman...

For the readers who go through this thread, the good news of getting your RPAL in record time (less than 30 days) shows our taxes at work. I didn't have that luck with me as my RPAL took almost 50 days before it arrived in the mail.
For those waiting to see their application get into the CFC's computer system, be patient but do your due diligence and call to follow up. Every phone call I made to the CFC, was greeted by helpful government personel. They give each case the extra effort especially if there is nothing in their system after 30 days. Don't despair, just keep on calling.
The bad part is, since getting the RPAL, I have added 4 new members to the armory. Think my wife wished CFC lost my app!!!!! Am now eating into her shopping money - its my turn!!!!:dancingbanana:

Okay, I'm very confused. Can someone clarify this for me. I'm doing my test wednesday for my PAL/RPAL and nowhere have I read anything about having references and them being called and what not?
What is this for? All I've been told is when I do the test, if I pass, then the instructor files my paper work and my pal/rpal gets mailed to me?

noo grasshopper... you pass the test and fill out an application. you answer questions about past history, breakdown of relationships, metal and financial stability ect. then you get 2 references that you've known for at least 3 years that will also verify that you are mentally stable, non violent, all that stuff. good luck

Both I and my refs were called on the ~20th day after reception. My gf wasn't called though (which was also my photo ref).

I would call to check it out, although I've read some people didn't even had their ref called...

Hi there,
Make sure you get the right paperwork.I DID MINE 7 DAYS AGO.
You will need 2 references, one photo,$60.00 and patience.
Check your stuff mate.
TANKMAN.

Many people are confussed by the new fees

$ 60 if you only apply for your PAL
$ 80 if you are applying for PAL and RPAL
and free if you upgrade from a POL or PAL

Okay, so money wise, I'm dropping $80 to do the test for my PAL and RPAL, and then ANOTHER $80 to send in the application?

So in total, I'm spending $160?
